Abstract
A computer system is arranged to detect where on a visual display unit a gun shaped handset 6 has been aimed. The handset 6 has a trigger 5, and also has two joysticks 1,2, a rotary twist grip 3 and secondary buttons 4. The joysticks (fig 2) may be analogue and include a click-down action. One joystick may control an in-game character's movement, the other joystick may control the displayed view within a 3D environment, while a conventional light-gun of the handset allows the user to also point and shoot with the trigger 5 at an on-screen in-game target.
Description
INTERACTIVE HANDSET
This invention relates to a handset which can be used via a computer and a V.D.U (visual display unit) Hand controllers are well known for use with computers to control on-screen icons, cursors etc. Controllers however only either control on-screen icons or in case of light-guns they only allow you to point and shoot on-screen targets.
According to the present invention, the handset can allow the user to not only control on-screen icons, the cursors etc from the handset, but now as well move and view independently within a 3-D computer enviroment and point and shoot on-screen targets.
This invention is only being described being utilised in a first-person perspective video-game. It is possible for the invention to open up other paths for its application.
All the technology required is individually present and available on the market today.
