Abstract

A pallet moving device has a post 7 adjustably inserted into a box section bar 8, plates 5 and 3, preferably welded, on either end, one vertical and one horizontal, that will hook onto a pallet and a fork lift truck respectively. It will be curved 4 and 6 at the ends of the plates for safety. The device includes holes 1, through the inner bar 7 and outer box section bar 8, allowing for a bolt 9 to be pushed through and secured with nuts 2, at either side ensuring the device cannot refract in on itself.

Description

PALLET MOVING DEVICE
This invention relates to a tool for the safe removal of palletised goods from commercial motor vehicles.
In usual practice, palletised goods are unloaded from vehicles using rope or textured bands attached to the cross bar of the fork lift truck. A person would then hold the lose end of the rope tightly, and walk with the fork lift truck as it pulls out the pallet.
This usual practice is not particularly safe and poses safety risks to the person holding the rope and walking alongside the moving fork lift truck. It is also time consuming in tying together the pallet and fork lift truck with rope.
An object of the invention is to provide a safe, efficient tool to remove palletised goods. This is without the need for a person to walk alongside the fork lift truck holding the rope therefore jeopardising their safety.
This invention provides a bar compromising a post inserted in a box section bar, light enough to lift and adjustable in length, with a plate on each end, one vertical and one horizontal, that will hook onto a pallet and a fork lip truck respectively, and with holes through the inner bar, allowing for a bolt to be pushed through and secured with nuts at either side to ensure that it cannot close in on itself, therefore remaining safe.
the plates on each end are curved so that it can hook onto either the pallet or fork lift truck. The device will preferably be made out of steel, with welded hook ends. It will also be painted or powder coated in reflective material for high visibility.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example win reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the side view of the device extended fully Figure 2 shows the top view of the device extended fully Figure 3 shows the application of the device with a pallet Figure 4 show the application of the device with the fork lift truck Figure 5 shows the device retracted Figure 1 shows the device which compromises a bar 7, which inserts into a box section bar 8. The device can be extended fillly using a bolt 9, and two nuts 2, pushed through the holes 1, to stop the bar from retracting. The device has a plate 3, soldered on the end vertically which is used to hook onto the fork lip truck. The plate 3 is curved at the end 4. On the opposite end is another plate 5, which is horizontal sand also curved 6. This is used to hook onto the pallet.
Figure 2 shows the view of the device from above with the bolt 9 and nuts 2, stopping the bar from closing in and therefore allowing the device to be extended. It also shows the horizontal plate 5, which is to be used to hook round the pallet.
In figure 3' the device is shown in use with the end plate 5. secure round the pallet base. This is then secure for the fork lift truck to reverse, pulling the pallet. The curve 6 on the end plate 5, makes sure that the device does not slip from the pallet.
Figure 4 shows how the device is attached to fork lift truck. With the end plate 3, hooked onto the bars of the fork lift truck. This enables the truck to reverse, pulling the pallet safely with it for removal from a vehicle. The end plate 3 is curved 4 so that it cannot slip from the fork lift truck. Figure 5 shoves the device retracted Filly allowing for neat storage.
