Abstract
Fluorescent letters and numbers are provided for identifying particular buildings or areas within buildings at night, e.g. for use as house numbers or names. The numbers and letters are preferably manufactured out of photo luminescent plastic. They may have a self-adhesive backing.
Description
NIGHT ID
The invention relates to a florescent lettering and numbering system, which when exposed to 10-15 minutes of natural or synthetic light, has the ability to glow brightly in the dark for a period in excess of 12 hours, with a life span of at least 10 years, without the need for batteries or other external or internal electrical input. This numbering and lettering system gives the ability to identify numbers or writing in the dark, when little, or no synthetic light is available. Self Adhesive and screw-on numbering and lettering systems are well known.
But there is nothing on the market that is clearly visible by both day and night, without an external or internal power source needed to make the lettering/numbering visible at night. NIGHT ID would enable Police, Fire brigade, Ambulance, and a host of other people who have a need to find particular buildings or areas within buildings at night, but who are unable to do so as they cannot see the numbering/lettering on the buildings because it is dark. An object of this invention, after being exposed to either natural or synthetic light, glows clearly in the dark, for a period of more than 12 hours, and as such can be clearly identified. This invention primarily cuts response times from the emergency services, who would be able to identify buildings more easily at night.
Accordingly, this invention provides a fluresent number/lettering system, which can be attached to a building or external/intemal wall/fence/door, and be clearly identified at night without the need for any power sources to illuminate the number.
Preferably the number would be made of a photo luminescent plastic which glows with a florescent light in the dark, and can be attached to any surface by means of either a self-adhesive backing, or a simple screw or nail application. The numbers/letters can be used in a variety of places, notably for numbering buildings, giving easy identification of the property number.
Claims (4)
1. Numbers and letters that are clearly visible by day, and also visible by night by means of being florescent.
2. Numbers and letters as claimed in Claim 1 which can be clearly
identified at night, without the need for a power source other than that of a synthetic or natural light needed to charge the photo luminescent plastic to make it fluorescent.
3. Numbers and letters as claimed in Claim 1 and 2 which after 10-15 minutes of natural or synthetic light, will become florescent for more that 12 hours.
4. Numbers and letters as claimed in Claim 3 which can be attached to any surface using either self adhesive of screw/nail applications.
