Abstract

The arms 2 of the chair or sofa drop into grooves of the legs 4, which are part of the base 3, and are then bolted into place. The back 1 has dowels fitted into holes at the ends of the legs and is secured by metal plates and bolts. The top of the base has a webbed seat portion (5, Fig 2).

SELF ASSEMBLY FRAMED SUITES
The invention relates to an upholstered 2 Or 3 piece suite which can be dismantled and re-assembled, thus saving any inconvenience during delivery or removals.
Many suites have problems with being too bulky for delivery, e.g. doorways or stairways too narrow, inaccessible loft conversions but with our invention you could still have the bulky suite, or any designed suite and get it into any room in your property without problems. On the manufacturing side, it would solve many storage problems and cut transport costs.
Our system is made up of wooden frames which consist of; 1no back (figure 1) 2no arms (figure 2) 1no centre frame (figure 3) 2no feet (figure 4) 1no webbed seat (figure 5) as in drawing 1 The feet which are fixed to the centre frame are the main feature of this construction, as it takes both the arms and back to form the chair. As shown in drawing 2.
The assembly is simplicity in itself. The arms drop into the grooves on the feet and are then bolted onto the centre frame. The back with 2 dowels on the bottom, then slots into the feet, secured by 2 metal plates with the final bolt in the centre making the whole frame secure.
The settee is constructed in the same way only the back, seat and centre frame is made longer to suit any requirements.

1 The frame includes 2 arms 1 back and 1 centre frame 2 The centre frame has 2 feet fixed to the bottom The feet have casters or gliders on the bottom 3 A webbed seat sits on the top of the centre frame and a cushion covers the webbed seat 4 The back has metal brackets fitted to each side which lock the back to each of the arms 5 The frames are made of wood with metal brackets wing nuts and bolts and would be upholstered accordingly
