Abstract

A speed alert device has a body 1, which houses a proximity sensor 3, a buzzer 4, electronics boards, 5 and a battery 5. The device may have a removable suction plunger mechanism 2. The speed alert device attaches to the glass of the vehicle speedometer over the desired speed, which the driver of the vehicle has chosen, to be warned when that speed has been reached. The warning allows driver of the vehicle to take action to reduce/maintain speed and therefore to comply with the legal speed limit and also avoiding speed camera from triggering.

This invention relates to a speed alert device The speed alert device buzzes to alert a driver of a vehicle that a certain speed is being approached allowing drivers to maintain the legal speed to avoid speed camera from triggering. On buzzer activation, the driver takes the appropriate action to reduce the vehicle speed to remain with in the legal speed limit and avoid speed cameras from triggering. The speed alert device provides an easy attachment to the speedometer glass by means of a suction plunger.
The speed alert device consists of a device body housing a proximity sensor connected to a buzzer and a power source.
The speed alert device attaches to the glass of the vehicle speedometer over the desired speed such as 30 MPH, 70 MPH etc (MPH-miles per hour). Figure 1 attached show the attachment of the speed alert device in relation to a speedometer.
When the speedometer speed indicator needle of an accelerating vehicle moves to show the vehicle speed, the needle under the attached speed alert device moving under the proximately sensor, senses the needle and operates the buzzer of the device. This indicates to the driver that the desired vehicle speed is being approached.
Figure 2 shows the components of the speed alert device.
With reference to figure 2 the speed alert device attaches to the speedometer glass by means of a suction plunger mechanism 2 on the head of the device for ease of attaching. The plunger may be removed and the device can be attached by mean of an adhesive.
The device consists of a proximity sensor 3, which senses the approaching speedometer needle. The sensor 3 alerts the electronics 5 which ensure the alert is only made for an increasing speed, which triggers the buzzer 4. A battery 6 powers the device. The components are housed in the device body 1.

Claims (6)

1 A speed alert device comprised of a body that housed the electronic components namely a proximity sensor, a buzzer, miniature electronic printed circuit boards and a battery.
2 A speed alert device as claim 1 is provided with a suction plunger mechanism attached to the body for mounting the device.
3 A speed alert device may also use a low tack adhesive to attach the device instead if the suction plunger mechanism as in claim 2.
4 A speed alert device as claimed in proceeding claim is provided with a top lid for easy access for battery replacement.
5 A speed alert device as claimed in proceeding claim is provided with a range of buzzer tones for multiple uses for more than one speed warning.
6 A speed alerts device substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 2.
