Abstract

A monitor for warning a driver of excessive speed or revs has a light source 3 in a housing that is attached to the clear screen above a vehicle instrument panel by adhesive or suction cups. Behind the light source is the monitoring circuitry, a battery, and an audible warning device that produces an audible tone to alert the driver when the light beam is broken by the speedometer or rev counter needle. The monitor is detachable and may be positioned for a particular speed limit eg 30 mph.

Description

2360582 VE11ICLE SPEED MONITOR
Description
This device will fit easily onto a motor vehicles instrument display, by means of an adhesive pad or suction cup. The device will emit a beam of light, which can be set at 30 miles per hour for example. When the speedometer or rev indicator needle breaks the beam an audible warning will be given telling the driver to slow down. The device is operated by a small battery and can be used in the majority of vehicles, which have a standard dashboard layout. It can be easily moved to suite changing speed restrictions, it can also be moved from vehicle to vehicle easily.
FIGURE 1 shows the suction cup or adhesive pad 1 connected to the housing 2; FIGURE 2 shows the light source or beam installed in the housing 3; FIGURE 3 shows the monitoring circuitry and audible warning device 4; FIGURE 4 shows the srew cap power cell & on off switch 5; 2 The vehicle excessive speed monitor is located in housing having at one end a suction cup to attach it to the clear screen above the instrunient panel (figure 1).
Directly above the suction cup in the housing is the light source orbeam, this will a to determine the distance between the clear screen and the back of the instrument panel, this will ensure that when the beam is broken by the speedometer or rev counter needle the warning will sound (figure 2).
Behind the light source or beam is the monitoring circuitry and audible warning device (figure 3).
Fitted just on top of the device is a screw cap to house the small power cell this together with an on ofr switch completes the device (figure 4).

Claims (1)

  1. Claims
In an age where road satty is foremost and car usage is increasing, speed limits are becoming stricter and enforcement more effective.
It is increasingly more difficult for drivers to be constantly cheddng their instruments for the changing speed limits, tins small portable device would ens= that the driver using; it would have more actual time concentrating on the road and not their instruments.
It would also be of use to enthusiasts who do not want their vehicle to execd a certain rev limit It is a small detachable device that can be fitted quiddy to monitor excessive speed or revs by means of an audible tone to alert the driver.
