Abstract

A wristband or pager type device which monitors, via a radio transceiver, the location of, or distance from a home base, of a person which is wearing the device, the home base is also alerted if the wearer comes into contact with water by emitting a different signal. The home base transmitter may be programmed for pre-set distances of detection, the monitor may also be similar in appearance to a mobile telephone and may be capable of monitoring a plurality of children.

'Safe-Range'Monitor. Range location Device. Description : In an effort to monitor the activities of children while away from home (School trips, etc) I have invented a location device that will provide the guardian with the exact location of the child and weather the child has come into contact with water.
A transmitter/receiver will be worn by the child in the form of a wristband (similar to those worn by hospital in-patients) that will emit a radio signal providing the person supervising the children's activities.
This person will have a mobile phone type of device that will provide a warning signal once the person wearing of the wrist-band has strayed outside the prescribed boundaries or has come into contact with water.
The device will accommodate numerous signals depending on how many children there are to supervise. The wristband worn will have its own dedicated signal for easy identification and location of the warer. The distance/range will allow the person monitoring the children's activity to pre-set distance and also should the person wearing the wristband enter water it will signal the emersion of the wristband in water.

Claims (1)

  1. Range location Device.
    Claims: The'Safe-Range'monitor consists of a radio transmitter/receiver in the form of a wristband or pager type device that provides a home base with location details of the wearer of the device. It will also alert the home base if the wearer had come into contact with water. The device will emit a different signal if it has been immersed in water.
    The Home base receiver/transmitter can be programmed to monitor distance that can be pre-set for different distances, e. g. 500meters-plus.
    Also it will have the capability to detect if the wearer is in the presence of water, rivers lakes, sea, etc.
    The home base device will be similar in appearance to a mobile phone which will be monitored by the person supervising the children. It will emit an audible/visual signal if the wearer of the wristband has moved outside the pre-set distance or has come into contact with water.
    The'system'will have to capability to monitor a number of children at the same time thus providing complete security when away from home.
    The'system'can also be used be used around the home and when children are playing outside.
    This device will be of great use to all institutions where people need to be monitored within geographical boundaries, Nursing homes, mental hospitals, hospital baby units. Schools.
