Abstract

A handle of a manually operated sawing, cutting or drilling tool, such as a hand-held saw, is provided with an air actuator 2 for clearing dust and the like from pre-marked lines on a workpiece. When the actuator is gripped air may be forced into chamber 1 and then into hose-shaped guides 3, and out of nozzles or moulded directional jets 4.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
See-sawZ This invention relates to any type of non-powered, manually operated sawing, cutting or drilling tool such as :-hand saw, tenon saw, cross-cut saw, rip saw, coping saw, manual drill or such like tools. This invention will clear all debris such as sawdust, metal filings, plastic composite shavings, fibre board shavings, plywood shavings and any combination from obstructing the person using the tool's view of pre-marked pencil or chalk marks for the purpose of guiding whatever implement is being used to carry out the task.
Such tools are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage of creating sawdust and suchlike debris, as mentioned above, which collects on the line drawn, by the person using sawing, cutting or drilling tools for the purpose of sawing and cutting in a straight line or, in the case of a drill, drilling on pre-marked points. As a result of this debris, the person has to stop operating the tool, alter position, stoop and physically blow the obstructing debris from marked lines. As well as creating better vision, it is hoped this invention will clean the tool and add to the working life of the tool.
The main object of this invention is to have a saw or such like, non-powered, manually operated tool that can blow away debris resulting from sawing, cutting or drilling by manually pressing an air actuator in or on the handle. Accordingly, this invention will allow the operator to work continuously without the need to stop, stoop and physically blow obstructing debris from the line of vision. This will save time and minimise the physical demands on the operator. This invention may increase the working life of the tool. These saws can be made from any suitable materials presently used to manufacture non-powered, manually operated saws, cutting tools and manual drills.
A preferred embodiment of the invention, using a handsaw as our example, will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIGURE 1 shows a side view of the saw, showing a cross-section of the saw handle.
FIGURE 2 shows an approximate forty-five degree, front side view of the saw, showing an air actuator protruding from the saw handle 2.
As shown in Figure 1, the saw comprises a standard handsaw handle. Incorporated in the handle is an air acuator 1 and 2. Part of the air actuator will protrude from the saw handle 2. When protruding section of air actuator 2 is gripped, it will depress, forcing air into air actuator chamber 1. The air would in turn be forced from this air chamber into hose shaped guides 3, ultimately exiting via nozzles or moulded directional jets which will guide the air towards any debris obstructing the operator's view.
The saw blade will be made from any materials currently used to manufacture saw blades of the type mentioned above.
The air actuator can be made of any material, such as rubber, plastic composite, metal, or any material presently used to manufacture air actuators.

Claims (7)

  1. CLAIMS 1. Using a saw as an example, and including a blade with a handle, we have fitted an air actuator inside the handle of the saw.
  2. 2. A saw, as claimed in 1, has an air actuator protruding from the inside of the saw handle grip.
  3. 3. A saw, as claimed in any preceding claims, would give the person using the saw, by pumping the protruding part of the air actuator 2, the ability to clear debris, created by sawing, off any pre-marked lines on the material being sawn.
  4. 4. A saw, as claimed in any preceding claim, is made using any materials currently used in saw manufacture.
  5. 5. A saw, substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
  6. 6. The saw is used as an example of any type of non-powered, manually operated hand tool used for sawing, cutting or any such like tool. The invention relates to all types.
  7. 7. All types of air actuators are used to carry out the purpose of the invention.
