Abstract
A security device for preventing loss or theft of items or individuals consisting of a control unit and a separate receiver unit. An alert is generated at both the control unit and receiver unit when the units are displaced beyond a certain range.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Security Device This invention relates to a security device of the type that can be any size, shape or colour that uses alarms, and/or lights and/or movement to prevent loss or theft of items or individuals.
Anti tamper devices exist which emit a sound if an item is moved, however, these suffer the disadvantage that they can be alerted by a knock or kick.
They suffer the further disadvantage that they do not protect from loss. An individual can move away from an item without the alarm sounding. These tamper devices suffer a further disadvantage of protecting only items, for example baggage, and not individuals, for example children.
The security device solves the problem of being separated from belongings or individuals by emitting a sound, or emitting light, or moving, or any combination of the aforementioned when an item or individual moves out of a specified range of distance.
The invention consists of one control piece and one or multiple receiver pieces. The control piece can be any size, shape or colour, as can the receiver pieces.
Preferably the device is made of a plastic or metal material, but it can instead be made from wood, glass or a combination.
The control and receiver pieces can be free or attached to a clip, badge, cord or any other holding or attaching device.
An example of use to prevent theft will now be described. The control piece is held by an individual (1). A receiver piece is placed in the bag of said individual. The said bag is placed on the floor. A second individual lifts the bag in an attempt to steal it and begins to move away. The receiver piece emits an alarm, or light, or moves, or a combination as does the control piece.
The individual (1) in possession of the control piece is alerted to the theft.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
The individual (1) in possession of the control piece can locate the stolen item via the alarm, light, movement or combination.
An example of use to prevent loss will now be described. The control piece is held by an individual (A). A receiver piece is placed in the pocket, or attached to a second individual (B). In a busy location individual B moves out of a specified distance of individual A. The control piece emits a light, alarm, movement or combination to alert individual A to the loss of individual B. The receiver piece emits a sound, light, movement or combination allowing individual A to locate individual B.
Claims (5)
- CLAIMS 1. A security device including one control piece and one or more receiver pieces that emit a sound, light, movement or a combination when the receiver piece is moved out of a specified range of distance from the control piece.
- 2. A security device as claimed in claim 1 that is made from metal, plastics material, wood, glass or a combination of these materials.
- 3. A security device as claimed in any preceding claim that is any size shape or colour.
- 4. A security device as claimed in any preceding claim where control and receiver pieces can be attached to a clip, badge, cord or any other holding or attaching device
- 5. A security device as claimed in any preceding claim where control and receiver pieces can be used without being attached to a clip, badge, cord or any other attaching device.
