Abstract

Air, humidifying; forced ventilation; ventilating conduits, passages and pipes, arrangements and adaptations of.-Apparatus for washing and conditioning air supplied to or circulated in building comprises the combination with a casing of a jet of compressed air, with or without a liquid spray, for inducing air into the building and a spraying device adapted to discharge water upon a set of baffles mounted within the casing. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the casing 1 is mounted in the wall or window 1<a> and is provided with a compressed-air nozzle or spray 2 in its forward end. A second spraying nozzle 6, mounted in the rear part of the casing, is adapted to discharge water upon a set of baffles 11, 12, 14, 15 mounted on rods 13 in the casing 1. Compressed air and water are supplied to the nozzles 2, 6 through pipes 4, 5 respectively. Either the nozzle 6 or both nozzles may be provided with adjusting mechanism for controlling the delivery of the water. As shown, this mechanism comprises a pin-valve having a non-rotatable threaded shaft 8, which co-operates with a bevel gear 7 revolvably secured within the casing of the spraying nozzle and actuated by a bevel pinion 10 on the shaft 9. A draining funnel 16 and pipe 17 serve to carry away the surplus liquid together with the deposited soot or dirt.
