Abstract

The tricycle has a longitudinal frame 1 with an end stopper 7 and carrying a slidable sleeve 52 with a depending rear wheel stay 51. A seat 2 has a rear bracket 21 pivoted to a bracket 521 on the sleeve 52. With the sleeve 52 in a rearmost position on the frame 1 for tricycle use, a front bracket 22 mounted on the seat 1 is coupled by a pin 8 to a fixed bracket 11 on the frame. For storage, the pin 8 is removed, the seat front end lifted to rest on forward handlebars 31 and the sleeve 52 moved forwardly enabling the pin 8 to be inserted through aligned holes 522 in the sleeve and frame, or, alternately, abutting the sleeve rear end whilst engaged in a frame hole.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
TITLE: CHILD TRICYCLE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (a) Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a child tricycle, and more particularly, to one with its frame to be folded in to reduce its length for easy storage.
(b) Description of the Prior Art A fun tricycle designed for children is essentially designed with the primary concern of riding stability A fork is pivoted to the front of the frame and connected to a handle above and a front wheel below Crankshaft pedals are directly adapted to the front wheel for the child rider to step on the pedals to roll the front wheel to travel forward or backward, and to turn the tricycle by operating the handle connected to the fork. The rear of the frame is fixed to a wheel stay pivoting at its both ends two rear wheels, and a seat connected to and above the middle section of the frame However, such structure of the prior art is fixed and consumes a lot of storage space To correct this, a foldable design is made by providing multiple knuckles to a longer frame so to fold in for reducing both width and length of a tricycle, provided, however, that folding in said knuckles takes a lot of time and efforts, and higher production cost is higher since more parts and components are required in the design, operation and related positioning members of said knuckles SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The primary purpose of the present invention is to provide a child tricycle having its rear wheel stay connected to the rear of frame foldable toward the front of the frame and its seat mobile to reduce the overall length of the frame, and thus the dimension for storage.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
To achieve the purpose, a mobile rear wheel stay receives the rear of the frame ; and said rear wheel stay has at its upper end fixed to a hollow holder with a wheel shaft stay for connection to the frame. A stopper is fixed behind said hollow holder to restrict it from being disengaged while a pivoting bracket being provided on top of said hollow holder is pivoted to the rear of the seat. Another pivoting bracket to receive a pin is provided at the front of the seat at where appropriately corresponding to the frame. The rear frame connected to the rear wheel stay is mutually held in position with the seat pivoted to both front and rear wheels When folded, the seat is raised by pulling out the pin to allow the rear wheel stay with said hollow holder slide forward along the frame to reduce the length of the tricycle. The head of the raised seat holds against the center of handles and the tail holds against the upper side of the protruded frame, then a pin is inserted into a corresponding fixation hole provided on the frame (or together with the hollow holder) to fold in the tricycle.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring to Fig I, a preferred embodiment of the present invention is essentially composed of a frame (1) having at its top provided a seat (2) that can be raised, and at its front end pivoted a fork (3) provided with a handle (31), a front wheel (4) provided at the bottom of the fork (3) having its wheel shaft connected to a crankshaft (41) and a pair of pedals (42), a mobile rear wheel stay (5) connected to the tail of the frame (1) having its both ends connected to two rear wheels (6).
The rear wheel stay (5) comprises a wheel shaft stay (51) and a hollow holder (52) fixed to the upper end of the wheel shaft stay (51). The hollow holder (52) receives the frame (1) therein with its inner diameter in relation to the outer diameter of the frame (1) A stopper (7) is fixed at the rear end of the hollow holder (52) at where receiving the penetration of the frame (1) The stopper (7) is formed on its inner side facing the hollow holder (7) an insertion block (71) in relation to the inner diameter of the frame (1) and the insertion block (71) is fixed in position with a pin (72). A pivoting bracket (521) formed on the top surface of the hollow holder (52) is pivoted to a second pivoting bracket (21) provided at the rear end of the seat (2). A third and a fourth pivoting brackets (22) and (11) inserted with a pin (8) are respectively provided in the front of the seat (2) and where appropriately on the frame (1) Relative fixation holes (522) and (12) are respectively provided in the hollow holder (52) and the frame (1) to be held in position with the pin (8) when the tricycle is folded in for storage.
As illustrated in Fig 2, the tail of the frame (I) is inserted into the rear wheel stay (5) and restricted by the stopper (7) with the hollow holder (52). By means of the pivoting bracket (521) at the rear end of the seat (2) pivoted to the top surface of the hollow holder (52), the third pivoting bracket (22) in the front of the seat (2) abutted to the fourth pivoting bracket (11) in the frame (1), and the pin (8) inserted through both the third and fourth pivoting brackets (22) and (11),
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
the seat (2) pivoted to the frame (l) holds the rear wheel stay (5) in position, forming the structure for use Upon folding up the frame as illustrated in Fig. 3, the pin (8) is pulled off to raise the seat (2) by its front. With the hollow holder (52) of the rear wheel stay (5) slides forward along the frame (1) and the raised the front of the seat (2) as driven by the hollow holder (52) of the rear wheel stay (5) rests in the center of the handle (31) of the fork (3) with the tail of the seat (2) holding against and stopped by the hollow holder (52) on the upper side of the frame (1) to fix the seat (2) in its raised status. Then the rear wheel stay (5) is moved forward in relation to the frame (1), and is fixed in position by insertion the pin (8) through both of the fixation holes (522) and (12) respectively provided in the hollow holder (52) and the frame (1) to reduce the dimension of the frame for storage.
Now referring to Fig. 4, in another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the pin (8) is inserted into a fixation hole (12) of the frame (1), and stopped at the rear end of the hollow holder (52) to hold the rear wheel stay (5) in position without using the fixation hole (522) provided in the hollow holder (52).
As disclosed above, an improved structure of a child tricycle of the present invention takes advantage of a pivoted rear wheel stay with its hollow holder inserted to rear end of the frame thus to shorten the length of the frame with a pivoted seat that can be raised to rest between the handles, thus forming a positioning mechanism to allow easy folding in for storage.
