Abstract

A foot mitten that covers the part of the foot that is most open to chafing and discomfort caused by the inner part of shoes and sandals rubbing against the skin, to eliminate the common problem of blisters and soreness experienced by those who wear shoes and sandals bare foot, particularly in hot weather. The foot mitten is a sock with separable toes, that is worn on the foot like a glove. The mitten fits over and in between the toes and extends over the base of the toes and over the ball of the foot. The foot mitten is unobtrusive when worn with sandals and may be made from washable elasticated cotton material or disposable recycled cellulose tissue without any stitches or knots to give maximum comfort.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
The following new ideas refer to two accessories to footwears, which are both mainly used in hot weather.
DESCRIPTSION ONE Quarter foot mitten This design relates to a foot mitten which covers only the base, the sides and in between the toes, which are the areas that are most open to chafing and discomfort caused by the inner part of shoes rubbing against the skin.
The purpose is to eliminate severe discomfort frequently experienced in the wearing of shoes and sandals, particularly in hot weather, without foot covering (i. e. stocking, tights or socks). In particular, women will value this design as a stylish uninvasive aid to foot comfort, but, of course, it will be of benefit to men and children.
Such a design may seem to bear a superficial resemblance to products designed to deal with medical conditions. However, this application is also concerned to provide un aesthetic or stylish comfort as well as eliminating the formation of blisters and soreness produced by the rubbing of shoes and sandals on hot, bare feet.
The aesthetic object of this design is particularly relevant when open front shoes are worn. Normally, it is displeasing for eyes to see open front shoes worn with ordinary tights, stockings or socks. on the other hand not wearing them at all results in blisters and discomfort. This product offers visually attractive solution to the problem.
This covering could be composed of a disposable recycled cellulose tissue, which is discarded after use or a washable thin elasticised cotton material. Both could be made in variety of skin colours. Like a mitten, it would fit over and between the toes, leaving them uncovered and extending over just the ball of the foot and the base of the toes and ending just before the arch of the foot. In this way the design is unobtrusively focused on the problem area. See 1/A figure 1-3 Figure I shows the top view of the fitting and how the mitten fits in between the toes and covers only the base of the toes.
Figure 2 & 3 show how the mitten covers the side and extends to the base of the foot in one piece. There are no stitches to either side or in between the toes for maximum comfort.
