Abstract

A mobile soundproof enclosure (12) comprises four sides and a roof (13), a means for raising or lowering the enclosure (9) into a mobile or an in use position respectively. Preferably the enclosure is provided with a door (10), a source of light (7) and ventilation (5). The enclosure may further include a seal (11) around the base of the enclosure which contact the ground when the enclosure is lowered into an in use position. The enclosure may be extendable.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
MOBILE SOUNDPROOFED ENCLOSURE This invention relates to a mobile soundproofed enclosure.
Soundproofed rooms are widely used in the music industry, where there is a need to reduce noise emissions from or within a room or area. Noise levels are also important in industries such as construction, where in road works for instance, pneumatic drills are used to assist in digging holes and trenches. Often work has to stop because of complaints about the noise level, causing delay and added expense.
An object of this invention would be to reduce the levels of noise pollution, by providing a soundproof area in which workmen could use noisy tools, such as pneumatic drills.
Accordingly this invention provides a soundproofed mobile enclosure, comprised of a weatherproof body, four sides, a roof, a door but no floor. A means of moving the enclosure from place to place, a means of lowering and raising the body into place and a means of soundproofing the whole unit once in a fixed position. A means of ventilation and a means of natural or other light would also be provided.
Preferably the enclosure is made of panels comprising layers of various materials, such as mineral fibre and high-density rubber, in a cavity construction, which forms the soundproof barrier. The outer layer should be of steel or similar material. It is possible for the booth to be lengthened by separating the front and rear and adding a central section.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a cross section of cavity wall.
Figure 2 shows the booth viewed from above.
Figure 3 shows the booth viewed from the rear.
Figure 4 shows the booth viewed from the front.
Figure 5 shows the booth viewed from the side.
Referring to the drawings, Figures 1-5, the enclosure comprises a soundproof body 12, a cross-section of which is seen in Fig 1, with a rubber seal 11 around its base, a door 10, vision panels and a roof 13, in which is set a ventilation unit 5. At the foot of each comer of the body is a jacking castor 9.
In order to create a fully soundproofed environment within to work, the jacking castors 9 are jacked low so that the rubber seal 11 comes into contact with the ground, creating a pressure seal between the body 12 and the ground.
In order that a power tool, such a pneumatic drill, can be used within the enclosure a rubber seal 8 allows a compressed air hose to be passed into the enclosure. In order to allow the enclosure to be moved, the jacking castors 9 are jacked high. In order to ensure ventilation within the enclosure a ventilation unit 5 is provided. In order to allow light into the enclosure, vision panels 7 are provided. In order to allow entry into, and exit from, the enclosure, a door 10 is provided.

Claims (8)

1 A mobile soundproofed mobile enclosure, comprised of a weatherproof body, four sides, a roof, a door but no floor. A means of moving the enclosure from place to place would be provided, as well as a means of lowering and raising the body into place, and a means of soundproofing the whole unit once in a fixed position. A means of ventilation and a means of natural or other light would be provided.
2 A soundproofed mobile enclosure as in claim 1 which becomes soundproof when the enclosure is lowered and the pressure seals at the base are brought into contact with the ground.
3 A soundproofed mobile enclosure as in claim 1 and 2 which can be moved when the enclosure is raised.
4 A soundproofed mobile enclosure as described in claims 1-3 wherein a door is provided.
5 A soundproofed mobile enclosure as described in claims 1-4 wherein at least one source of natural, or other light is provided.
6 A soundproofed mobile enclosure as described in claims 1-5 wherein ventilation is provided.
7 A soundproofed mobile enclosure as in claims 1-6 wherein sections of the body
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
may be added to provide a larger enclosure.
8 A soundproofed mobile enclosure substantially as described herein, with reference to figures 1-7 of the accompanying drawings.
