Abstract

A combined baby changing mat and storage device comprises a mat G with pockets on one side which may be rolled into a tubular configuration G and has handles which are releasably connectable to one another. The pockets may be sized to accommodate at least two nappies, a small packet of baby-wipes, a container of talcum powder, several nappy sacks and a tube of nappy-rash cream. The components of the combined baby changing mat and storage device may be separable. The combined baby changing mat and storage device may be secured in the rolled up configuration and carried like a bag. Each handle may comprise two releasably connectable sections A-D, allowing the combined baby changing mat and storage device to be releasably secured to another object such as a pram, pushchair (figure 4 not shown) or car seat.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Baby Changing Equipment Transporter This invention relates to a Baby Changing Equipment Transporter.
Equipment needed to change a baby's nappy is usually transported in a large Changing Bag containing at the very least the following essential items: a changing mat, nappies, baby wipes, talcum powder, nappy rash cream, and nappy sacks. They tend to be large, roomy and bulky; big enough to transport a whole day's supplies. Even when you do not need to transport a whole day's supplies, for example, if you are just popping out for a short time, the large changing bag is still used with the majority of its space not needed.
An object of this invention is to transport everything needed to change a baby's nappy in an extremely compact fashion, either in the form of a small bag or in a hands free fashion whilst attached to something, e. g. a pushchair.
This invention comprises of a baby changing mat with storage pockets attached to one side for storing all essential items (as described above) needed to change a baby's nappy. The pockets fold onto the mat and together with the mat are rolled up into a sausage shape and secured into this position. Integral handles attached to the underside of the changing mat allow the roll to be carried as a small bag. Each of the handles are able to divide into two sections. These sections can then be looped around a selected item, for example a pram, pushchair, or car seat and re-attached to the corresponding handle section on the opposite side, enabling the roll to be securely transported in a hands-free fashion.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described in detail by way of example with reference to the following drawings in which :- > Figure 1 illustrates the Transporter in its rolled position with the handles in the'bag'position.
> Figure 2 illustrates how each handle is separated into 2 sections.
> Figure 3 illustrates in close perspective, the Transporter in its rolled position with the handles in their looped position attaching the roll to something.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
> Figure 4 illustrates how the Transporter by means of the handles in the looped position may be attached to the selected item, in this example, a pushchair (not to scale).
> Figure 5 illustrates the changing mat with attached partitioned storage pockets in the collapsed position.
). Figure 6 illustrates the reverse of the changing mat and partitioned storage pockets in the collapsed position, illustrating the approximate position of the integral handles and roll position fastener.
> Figure 7 illustrates the changing mat with attached partitioned storage pockets in a semi-rolled position, showing the pockets folded onto the changing mat.
Referring to the drawings, the Baby Changing Equipment Transporter is a one-piece unit; Figure 1 shows the changing mat G in its rolled'bag' position, Figure 5 in its collapsed position with the changing mat G and storage pockets E on one side of the unit visible. The unit maintains its rolled position by being secured for example by poppers or a Velcrcrstnp at approximately point J on Figure 5 and approximately point M on Figure 6.
The unit may be carried as a bag in the position illustrated in Figure 1 by means of integral handles, sections K and L of which on Figure 6 are permanently secured, for example by stitching, to the underside of the changing mat G.
In order to convert the unit from its collapsed state as shown in Figure 5 to its rolled'bag'state as shown in Figure 1, edge E of the storage pockets in Figure 5 must first be folded across the changing mat to meet with point F in the direction of arrow H; that is to say far enough across to position the storage pockets and their contents in the middle of the changing mat G. The unit must then be rolled up as shown in figure 7 and secured into the Figure I rolled'bag'position for example by poppers or a Velcro'strip. To convert the unit from its rolled'bag'position in Figure 1 to its collapsed position in Figure 5 the above steps are carried out in reverse order.
The necessary baby changing equipment is slotted into the storage pockets E in Figure 5 prior to the rolling illustrated in Figure 7. The pockets must be suitable for containing at the very least all of the following : 2 nappies, a small packet of baby wipes, a small tub of Talcum Powder, several nappy
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
sacks, and a small tube of nappy rash cream. It may also be agreeable for the pockets to have the ability to be sealed, for example by poppers or Velcro.
To mount the unit onto something, for example a pushchair as shown in Figure 4, the unit must be in its rolled position with all handle sections A, B, C, and D separated as illustrated in Figure 2. The handles are able to become separated in this way for example by poppers or VelcroThese sections can then be looped around something, in this example, a pushchair, and the sections re-attached to the opposite handle section across the unit as shown in by Figure 3; A to C and B to D. The handle sections must be separated again to remove the unit from whatever it is attached to.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A baby changing equipment transporter which when opened out includes a changing mat with pockets attached to one side, which can then be rolled into a sausage shape and secured in that position, incorporating integral handles which have the ability to become separated from each other, then rejoin.
  2. 2. A baby changing equipment transporter as claimed in Claim 1 where the pockets attached to the changing mat are able to contain at least 2 nappies, a small packet of baby wipes, a small tub of Talcum Powder, several nappy sacks, and a small tube of nappy rash cream.
  3. 3. A baby changing equipment transporter as claimed in any preceding claim which is a one-piece unit incorporating a changing mat, storage pockets and handles, which have the ability to separate.
  4. 4. A baby changing equipment transporter as claimed in any preceding claim which rolls up with the equipment contained within and can be secured in a roll position, and by means of the integral handles carried as a bag.
  5. 5. A baby changing equipment transporter as claimed in any preceding claim including 2 integral handles which each have the ability to divide into 2 sections and become detached from each other, and can then be rejoined by means of, for example poppers or Velcroôrby any other method which allows this to occur, thereby allowing the transporter to be attached to something and transported in a hands- free fashion.
  6. 6. A baby changing equipment transporter substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
