Abstract

237,696. Nicholls, J. H. June 18, 1924. Corves; sides, floors.-A pit-tub or like vehicle is constructed of two or more plates adapted to be placed transversely one over another so as to constitute the bottom of the vehicle, the extending portions of each plate being bent upwardly to form the sides or ends. Each plate is cut away on each side and intermediate of its length to the depth of the flange d, and for a distance equal to the length and width of the base respectively. Each uncut portion of each plate is bent upwardly at right angles to form the sides g and ends c, and each portion d is turned at right angles to form flanges by which the sides and ends are secured. One plate is placed inside the other and a body having two thicknesses of plate at the bottom is formed. Strengthening straps may be placed around the top of the body between the side flange. One plate only may have the inwardly bent flanges d; and more than two plates may be employed. The bottom plate may be in the form of. a well. The sides and ends may be corrugated.
