Abstract

A swivel tier bag comprises a backpack 1 joined to a tier of independently movable cases 3 with rods or piping and hinges allowing the user to individually swing each case out from the tier. The hinge members may be provided upon both the backpack and cases. The swivel tier bag may be carried using a shoulder strap 13 or may be carried like a rucksack 14. Soft, cushioning inserts may be provided for the cases.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
SWIVEL TIER BAG This present invention relates to a swivel tier bag.
Conventional bags can sometimes have numerous compartments but items tend to move around, can not be viewed easily and sometimes can end up in a different place in the bag. The main drawback of many conventional bags is that users who tend to put many items in their bag may often find that they spend a lot of time looking for these items or wondering if certain items are lost.
According to the present invention the swivel tier design will provide the user with an opportunity to have a structured and organised bag.
A swivel tier bag consists of a backpack joined to a tier of cases, with the use of rods or piping and hinges to enable each case to perform a swivel movement.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
There will be room at the back for more lengthy items such as a newspaper, magazine or an average size A4 file.
The rods and all other materials used for this function will be fully encased to prevent injury.
A swivel tier bag consists of a hinge mechanism to enable the user to swivel out a case from the tier.
The cases have transparent lids therefore items can be viewed before the case is unzipped.
The cases for this standard size bag will be designed so that there is adequate room for items such as a mobile telephone, bag of crisps, make up bag, keys, a purse and other everyday items Further advantages and characteristics will be made more apparent from a specific embodiment of the invention, by
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which :- Figure 1 shows a front view of how the swivel tier bag would look in an open position.
Figure 2 illustrates how the second and bottom cases look when swivelled out away from the backpack 1.
Figure 3 gives a sectional front view of the swivel tier bag.
It focuses solely on the part that covers the front, top, bottom and sides of the cases.
Figure 4 gives a frontal view of the swivel tier bag closed.
Figure 5 gives a rear view of the bag.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Figure 6 gives a birds eye view, indicating what the removable soft cushioning compartments would look like once fitted into a case 3.
r v Figure 7 shows a velcro detachable extra part 16.
Referring to Figure 1, this shows how four cases 3, are placed on top of one another in a tier style. They rest against the front part of the backpack 1. The left of 1 comprises of a fully encased rod or piping 5, which with the help of hinges 6 or similar means (not shown) connects it with 7, which helps secure 3 in place. This enables the swivel movement indicated in Figure 2 to take place.
Whereby if the user wants to retrieve something from the bottom case, they simply swivel that case outwards.
The body 8, as shown in Figure 3 accommodates the cases and makes the swivel tier bag look stylish.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
The bag can be carried by use of a single removable (not indicated on figures) shoulder strap 13 or like a rucksack with 2 adjustable (not drawn) straps 14, as shown in Figure 4.
For reasons of simplicity the hooks and buckles that would be used for these functions are not illustrated.
Figure 4 illustrates how the swivel tier bag will look from the front when it is zipped up. The rear of the bag consists only of the shoulder straps 14, as indicated in Figure 5.
The soft cushioning compartments 15, (only one is drawn), are for those who need to organise themselves even more.
Mobile hairdressers may need the cases divided into sections for hair clips, pins and other hair accessories. It fits neatly into each case as indicated in Figure 6. It will be almost the same height as a case 3, but will reach just
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
beneath the zip in height (height not shown for reasons of simplicity).
, e-rm The velcro detachable extras 16, (only one is illustrated) are
likely to go inside of 1, whereby drinks or items similar will be placed on the interior (not illustrated) behind 7 and
Aft 8, where velcro'strips will be there for 16 to attach to.
This invention will eventually also take other forms. There will be a mini rucksack version modelled on the original but much smaller.
There will be a weekend case version, which would resemble the original, except it would be longer in length because it would be carried like a briefcase.
A bigger version specifically with the backpacker in mind will be created.
There will also be suitcase and trolleycase versions.
