Abstract

237,441. Hoyle, E. Aug. 25, 1924. Aeronautical apparatus.- Intermittent toothed gearing suitable for driving the film in the camera described in Specification 222,548 comprises a spring-restrained toothed segment 6 having limited angular movement with respect to a mutilated wheel 1, and adapted to mesh with a complete wheel 2, the teeth of the segment overlapping the teeth of the mutilated wheel so as to guide the complete wheel into mesh without shock. A pin 7 projects from the wheel 1 into a slot 8 in the segment 6, and the pin and slot determines the amount of the dwell in the gearing. When the pin is at either end of the slot, the teeth of the segment coincide with those of the mutilated wheel. If the complete wheel is driving, when is reaches the tooth gap, it moves the segment alone until the pin 7 reaches the other end of the slot. The segment then carries the teeth of the wheel 1 into mesh with the wheel 2. To aid the action, a friction drag may be inserted between the segment 6 and the wheel 1.
