Abstract

A settee frame includes 2 X 18mm plywood shaped arms on each side. Through the inner plywood shaped arms are fed the front and back rails which are glued and screwed to the outer plywood shaped arms. The front and back rails are further strengthened by a shaped double 18mm plywood centre support rail being glued and screwed together and the whole frame is wood and glued and screwed. Optional drawers may be included in the base.

Description

SETTEE FRAME The invention relates to a settee frame that will be used domestically and publicly. Most settee frames require repairs through constant use and may not last more than 10-20 years.
The object of this invention is to provide a settee frame that will last a human a lifetime without needing any repairs at all however much it is used. The frame should be the only one a family or public user should ever need and can be recovered repeatedly.
Preferably, the frame is made from 18mm ply wood and 60mm X 35mm round edged wood. The preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which figure 1 shows a side view of the whole settee frame.
Photograph figure 2 is a section showing the way that the front and back rails are joined through the ply wood sides.
Photograph figure 3 shows the centre support rail.
The settee frame has plywood arm sides 18mm thick which the front and back rails of the settee are fed through and glued and screwed on the outside (figure 2).
The centre support rail (figure 3) is shaped from 2 X 18mm plywood being glued and screwed together. Ultimately, this design makes the frame very very strong and it will be free from any distortion of the front and back rails i. e. (tilting back or forward, up or down) through constant use. The back and front rails must be 60mm X 35mm wood for strength.

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A settee frame which is constructed so that it will last a lifetime without distortion of the frame or the need for repair no matter how much use it gets.
  2. 2. A settee frame as claimed in claim 1 should help the environment as the people who have them will never need another as the one frame lasts for a very long time. The environment will not be subject to other settee types being made and thrown on a dump after only a few years. The settee frame as in claim 1 will reduce waste of timber resources because it lasts so long.
  3. 3. A settee frame as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying photographs. Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS I A settee frame which is designed and constructed so that it will last a human lifetime v without distortion of the frame or the need for repair no matter how much use it gets.
2 A settee frame as claimed in claim 1 will be made from wood.
3 A settee frame as claimed in claim I and 2 herein described and illustrated in the accompanying photographs and drawings.
