Dental instruments.-A rotary grinding tool, for use in crowning teeth for the final step in the production of a cylindrical stump, consists of a thin-walled steel, brass, or other metal cup c riveted, or secured by a screw b, to a short spindle a, and provided with a layer or carborundum or other abrasive material on its inside. The tool may be mounted in an angular handpiece driven by a flexible shaft g, or a straight hand-piece, may be used. The abrasive may be applied to the internal surface of the cup in the form of a paste., or may be permanently attached thereto as in an ordinary grinding wheel. The gums may be forced back by a rubber washer to enable the tooth to be ground slightly beyond the normal surface of the gums.
