Abstract

A modular feed system, possibly for a paint-ball marker, comprises a main body 1, in to a recess 5 of which, a removable module housing 2 is positioned. Housing 2 which is releasably secured to body 1 and comprises a bore hole 4 which acts as a breech for paintballs which have been guided to the location via feed tube 3, can be quickly and easily installed and/or removed. Housing 2 may take the form of various different modules. Feed tube 3 is attached to housing 2, possible by a threaded barrel, and can be positioned at various angles relative to the housing. Any of the modules within the arrangement may incorporate different types of guide and sensor means. The modular feed system may be made from plastic, metal, glass, wood or a combination of such materials.

MODULAR FEED SYSTEM FOR PAINIBALL MARKERS
This invention relates to a modular feed system for paintball markers.
In the sport of paintball games, there are many various markers available, which have different types of feed tubes, for directing paintballs into the breach of the marker.
These feed tubes are fixed onto the marker body, and it is not possible to change from left side to right side, or to a centre-feed tube, without purchasing a completely new body, or carrying out some form of modification to the body. With the introduction of
various paintball loader systems, of different designs, which store the paintballs before they enter the feed tube, the need has also arisen, for more dedicated, and specifically designed feed tubes, and a more flexible system.
An object of this invention is to provide the user with the ability to attach and detach, various modular feed tubes, of different design, according to their specific needs, quickly and easily, without the need to make any major modification to the body.
This will enable the user to quickly remove the feed tube module for cleaning or replacement. Accordingly this invention provides a modular feed system including a body, one or more modular feed tubes, means for releasably securing the modular feed tubes onto the body, the modules being adapted to swivel, or to slide on or off the body and be mounted to the body at various angles.
A specific embodiment ofthe invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a side view of a body with a detached Feed Tube Module Figure 2 shows an end view of a Feed Tube Module with Centre feed tube Figure 3 shows an end view of various different Feed Tube Modules each with a different feed tube design
Referring to the drawing the modular feed system can be made from a variety of materials, and as shown in Figure 1 it comprises a main body 1 which has a recess 5 to accept a module housing 2 with a feed tube 3 attached to it, which is releasably secured to the main body 1 by, for example, a bolt, catch, thread or similar means (not shown).
As can be seen in Figure 2 the module housing 2 consists of a borehole 4 and with the attached feed tube 3, form a complete feed tube module. The feed tube 3 guides the paintballs into the borehole 4, which acts as the breach of the marker.
The feed tube 3 can be attached to the module housing 2 at varying angles, as shown in Figure 3 in either a fixed position by for example a thread or similar means (not shown), or with the ability to swivel left or right on a pivot or by other suitable means (not shown). In order to remove the module housing 2 from the main body 1, the means securing the module housing 2 to the main body 1 are released and the module housing 2 is then withdrawn from the main body 1.

Claims (7)

1 A modular feed system comprising a main body, which accepts a removable feed module, means for releasably securing the module on the main body, so that the feed module can be removed, and replaced, with different feed modules, allowing the feed tube to be positioned at various angles.
2 A modular feed system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein means are
provided for releasably securing the feed module to the main body, by means of a threaded barrel.
3 A modular feed system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein guide means are provided in the module co-operable with the main body to control the movement of the paintballs through the feed tube, into the bore hole, which acts as the breach.
4 A modular feed system as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 3, wherein sensor means are provided in the main body or the module to sense movement, or lack of movement, of an object, after passing through the feed tube, into the bore hole, which acts as the breach.
5 A modular feed system as claimed in Claim 4, wherein sensor means are provided in the base of the main body or the module to sense an object resting above the sensor, after passing through the feed tube, into the bore hole, which acts as the breach.
6 A modular feed system as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from metal, glass, plastics material or wood, or from a combination of these materials.
7 A modular feed system substantially as herein described and illustrated in Figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
