Abstract

A wall mountable physical exercise apparatus comprises a tube 1 including wall mounting brackets 2 for mounting the tube vertically to a wall, an upper and lower pulley 3, 4 mounted to the tube 1, a weight 10 located within the tube and a cable 5 attached to the weight 10 at one end and to a grip member 7 at the other end, wherein the cable 5 can either pass around upper pulley 3 or around both upper and lower pullies 3, 4 (see Figures 1 and 3) to provide an upper and lower position for the grip member 7 such that, in use, various exercises can be performed against the load of the weight 10 by pulling the cable at either the upper or lower positions of the grip member. To extend the cable 5 so that it may pass around pulley 4 an extension cable (6) is added. The grip member may be a hand grip 7 or an ankle strap (9, Figure 3). The tube 1 may be provided with a wooden impact base 12 and an impact pad 11. The upper pulley may be mounted so that it passes through an opening (13, Figure 3) in the tube.

Description

MULTIPLE EXERCISE TONING TUBE This invention relates to an exercise device.
Exercise devices are known to provide physical exercise, in the main using weight stacking systems comprising of spacious heavy framing. These weight stacking systems do require room space and are relatively expensive. When not in use they remain idle requiring room space.
According to the present invention there is provided a physical exercise device comprising of an upright wall mounted tube 1 attached to a wall or fixed support by two, top and bottom wall attachment brackets 2, secured to the tube I using simple optional methods ie pot rivet, screws, or nut and bolts. The third central bracket 2 is secured into wall only. Housed within the front top of tube 1 protruding out of opening (window) 13 is a pulley wheel 3 attached by pot rivet or nut and bolt. Secured to front bottom of tube I is the second pulley wheel 4 secured by screws piercing into wooden impact base platform 12. Above the base platform 12 is an impact pad 11 acting as a cushion when the internal hanging weight 10 descends.
Permanently attached to weight 10 by a carbine hook 14 is cable 5 that runs through the top pulley wheel 3. In the front of tube 1 running through the second external base pulley wheel 4 moving upward and downward is cable 6 which can be attached to cable 5 by means of a carbine hook 14. A variety of hand grip devices 7 can be attached to cables 5 and 6 by means of a carbine hook 14. A sling (ankle strap) 9 is connected to cable 6. An extra optional ring clip 15 can be used if desired to join cables 5,6 and 9.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, again with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 (Side view) shows exercise apparatus using base pulley wheel 4 in use enabling the user to engage in various exercises (not shown), pulling on cable 6 in various positions causing the internal weight 10, shown in figure 2, to move upward and downward. The simple connection and disconnection of cables 5 and 6 is illustrated by the space. When bottom pulley wheel 4 is not in use an attached hook (clip) 8 is used to accommodate cable 6 in a tidy manner.
Figure 2 (Internal view) shows exercise device using top internal pulley wheel 3 enabling the user to engage in various exercises (not shown). Using a variety of hand grips devices showing only 7. It illustrates how and where internal weight 10 returns resting upon impact pad 11 which also sits upon wooden impact base 12. Cable 6 not shown.
Figure 3 (From view) shows exercise apparatus prepared for use with cables 5 and 6 joined together using a carbine hook 14 enabling the user to engage in multiple body exercises using ankle strap (siing) 9 and hand grips 7 (others not shown). This illustrates the versatility of this invention enabling the user to engage in a vast variety of upper and lower body workouts. The invention is of simple construction and can be produced at iow cost to the manufacturer. It possesses three key elements qualifying it as a competent, plausible, and inventive piece of apparatus: a) has a definable target audience (persons home or office) ; b) can be produced using existing materials and technology ; (NB : the prototype is already privately in use) c) the market place has a structured distribution system already in place in the UK.

Claims (7)

  1. CLAIMS 1. The unexposed internal weight permanently attached to a cable housed within an upright tube, which in turn runs on two pulley wheels, top and bottom, creates a simple but unique way of muscular exercising. This invention completely distinguishes its design from the known and used weight stacking systems.
  2. 2. The exercise apparatus, unlike multi-gyms designed to build up bodies, is designed primarily to exercise, strengthen and sculpture the muscles of the body, giving the majority of people the opportunity to workout using a lighter cable tension form of workout.
  3. 3. The multiple exercise tube eradicates the traditional inconvenient method of weight stacking.
  4. 4. Provides the benefits of many gymnasium workouts within ones own home or office, saving gym fees, time and travel costs. Also, requires no repetitive, time consuming setting up or moving, due to it being wall mounted.
  5. 5. Being attached to a wall or fixed support does not present itself as cumbersome or space demanding.
  6. 6. It possesses three key elements qualifying it as a competent, viable invention: a) has a definable target audience (persons home or office); b) can be produced using existing materials and technology ; (NB: the prototype is already privately in use) c) the market place has a structured distribution system already in place in the UK.
  7. 7. The exercise device will provide a pleasant, simple and beneficial form of muscular toning. We claim it can satisfy the needs of most keep-fit enthusiasts and the average householder desiring to benefit physically and mentally in an ever increasing health conscious, feel good factor world. We therefore conclude that our body toning apparatus (tube) is both novel and inventive. Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS 1. A wall mountable physical exercise apparatus comprising a tubular body including mounting means for fixing said tubular body vertically to a wall, an upper and lower pulley mounted on the tubular body, a vertically movable weight located within said tubular body and a cable attached to said weight at a first end and attached to a grip means at the second end thereof, said cable passing around either said upper pulley or both said upper and lower pulleys to provide an upper or lower position for said grip means such that, in use, various exercises can be performed against the load of said weight by the user pulling on said cable at either said upper and lower position of said grip means. 2. A wall mountable physical exercise apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein said cable, at the second end thereof, is provided with a universal connecting means for the attachment of said grip means.
