Abstract

A tent comprising waterproof fabric panels (1) having integral pockets or ribs (2) which, in use, are inflated to provide support for the fabric. It is an object of the invention provide a tent which may be rapidly deployed and has good thermal properties.

Description

INFLATABLE TENT The invention refers to an inflatable tent.
Tents are normally constructed in such a way that the weatherproof material is fitted over a rigid frame constructed of poles and then pegged to the ground using guy ropes and pegs.
According to the present invention an inflatable tent has no rigid frame constructed of poles but instead has inflatable pockets/ribs and/or panels as an integral part of the tent.
On inflation these give the necessary rigidity to the structure.
Compressed gas or a pump can be utilized to achieve rapid erection.
The advantages embodied in the invention are: 1. Rapid erection.
2. Lighter weight (no poles) 3. Good insulation properties when panels are inflated.
The specific embodiment of this invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings of which: 1. Shows the general arrangement.
2. Enlarged comer detail 3. Section A/A'through the tent As illustrated: weatherproof fabric panels (1) are attached to inflatable'ribs' (2) which when inflated by compressed gas or by pump via the valve (3) cause the tent to erect rapidly and without the requirement of posts or poles.
An additional option is to construct the fabric panels out of airtight material of double thickness so that they can also be inflated for additional strength and thermal insulation.
This option is shown in figure 3 by the dotted lines (4).

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS 1. An inflatable tent comprises weatherproof material with inflatable pockets and/or panels.
  2. 2. An inflatable tent is lightweight and allows for rapid deployment and has good insulation qualities.
  3. 3. An inflatable tent is substantially described herein with reference to Fig 1., Fig 2. and Fig 3.
