Abstract

An inflatable tent comprising a frame made of inflatable tubing 10. A tent cover (15, figure 2) and ground sheet are permanently fixed to the frame and so shaped that the inflated frame holds them in position. When inflated the frame provides the tent with it's shape and structural integrity. Inflation means comprising a valve 11 and an associated cap are provided on the frame. The tent cover (15, figure 2) has means of access (12, figure 2), air vents (14, figure 2) and anchorage points (13, figure 2).

Description

2340852 SOFT TENT This invention relates to a soft tent.
Tents are well known structures that provide a compact and portable form of shelter. However tents can be difficult to put up in bad weather or poor light due to the need to assemble the tent frame which is usually made from aluminium, carbon or fibreglass.
According to the present invention there is provided a tent which has an inflatable frame. The invention comprises a tent frame which is made from inflatable tubing so shaped that when inflated it provides the tent with its shape and structural integrity. The cover and ground sheet of the tent are permanently fixed to the frame and so shaped that the inflated frame holds them in position. The cover and ground sheet offer rigidity to the frame at the comers, and the apex. The tent cover has a zip door and sheltered air vents.The frame has an inflation 1 deflation point which incorporates a valve and a cap. The valve and cap are attached to the tent with ties to prevent them being lost. The tent has rings at the base through which it may be anchored to the ground.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective a detail of the inflatable tent frame in the shape of a square or rectangular based dome.
Figure 2 shows in perspective the complete tent.
Referring to the drawing the tent comprises an inflatable frame 10 with an inflation 1 deflation point incorporating a valve and cap 11. The ground sheet and tent cover are permanently fixed to the tent frame but are not shown in Figure 1 for clarity. In order to inflate the tent air is blown in through the inflation point until the required air pressure within the frame is reached.The inflation point is then sealed so that the required pressure is maintained. The tent may be pegged to the ground through the rings 13 after inflation. The tent cover 15 incorporates a zip door 12 and air vents 14. To deflate the tent the valve is opened.

Claims (3)

1.A Soft Tent comprising a frame formed from inflatable tubing so shaped that when inflated it provides the tent with its shape and structural integrity,the tent cover and ground sheet being permanently fixed to the frame and so shaped that they are held in position by the inflated frame, and offer the frame rigidity at the corners and apex, means to inflate the frame and maintain the required pressure therin.
2. A Soft Tent as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the valve is removable to aid deflation.
3. A Soft Tent substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawing.
