Abstract

236,855. Aktiebolaget Dux. Aug. 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Sheet-separators.-Sheets are fed from a pile by suction devices 2, a number of which are connected to a suction tube 6 which is given combined vertical and horizontal motions, or motions in two other directions inclined to one another, and also a rocking motion which causes the suction devices 2 to move to the inclined position shown in Fig. 2 after engaging the sheet squarely in descending from the position 4. Fig. 3, to the position 3. The front edge of the top sheet is thus bent and air can pass between it and the next sheet to prevent double feed. The tube 6 is fixed at each end to lever arms 7, 8 of which the arms 7 are the longer. The arms 7 are pivoted to links 9 by means of which the suction devices 2 are moved from the position 3 to position 4, thence to position 5 and back again. The arms 8 are each fitted with a freely mounted sleeve. 18 which can slide on a rod 19 which is oscillated from the horizontal position shown in Fig. 3, to the inclined position shown in Fig. 2, by means of cam-and-link mechanism 21, 23, 25, in order to tilt the suckers 2 as shown in Fig. 3 after they have engaged the top sheet. The links 9 are pivoted to a rod 10 which is movable in guides 12, and is raised when cams 17 act on rollers 14 on the links 9. During this rising movement, the rod 19 is returned to horizontal position so that the suckers 2 assume the horizontal position by the time they reach position 4. The links 9 are now oscillated about their pivots by cams 26 acting on rollers 27 on the links 9, and when position 5 is reached the sheets are taken over by sheet-forwarders. The axis of the pivotal connection of the links 9 and arms 7 coincide with the line joining the left ends of the suckers 2.
