With reference to the drawings and in particular to FIGS. 1 and 3 thereof, the ski assembly for a skate bike according to the present invention generally comprises a front ski 1 and a rear ski 2.
As shown in FIG. 1, the front ski 1 includes a board 11,a pair of wings 12 and a quick-release fastener 13. The board 11 has an upwardly curved front end for reducing the resistance when moving over snow or grass. The top of the board 11 is provided with two blocks 111 respectively close to two ends of the board 11. Each of the blocks 111 has a hole 112. The bottom of the board 11 is provided with a blade (not shown).
The wing 12 is formed with a notch 121 at the top and has two downwardly outwardly extending legs 122 each formed with a hole 123.
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
The wing 12 is fixedly mounted on the two blocks 111 by two bolts 124 extending through the holes 123 and the holes 112 of the blocks 111. It should be noted that the wing 12 may be otherwise secured to the blocks by any means well known to those having ordinary skill in the art.
The quick-release fastener 13 is used for releasably engaging the wing 12 with a front fork A of a skate bike. It should be noted that the wing 12 could be engaged with the front fork A of the skate bike by a bolt or other suitable fastening means. The quick-release fastener 13 includes a handle 132 having a projection 123 close to an end thereof, a threaded rod 313 extending from an end of the handle 132, a collar 135 fitted over the threaded rod 33, a tubular bolt 131 having internal threads adapted to engage with the threaded rod 133. The threaded rod 133 extends through the front fork A of the skate bike and the notches 121 of the wings 12 and is turned to engage with the tubular bolt 131. When the handle 132 is moved towards the wing 12, the projection 123 of the handle 132,M11 urge the collar 135 to bear against the wing 12 thereby firmly securing the wings 12 to the front fork A of the skate bike therefore fastening the front ski 1 to the skate bike. When desired to dismantle the front ski 1 from the skate bike, it is only necessary to move the handle 132 away from the wing 12 and turn the handle 132 to disengage the threaded rod 133 from the tubular bolt 131.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
The rear ski 2 is similar to the front ski 3 in structure and differs from the front ski 3 only in appearance. As shown in FIG. 2, the rear ski 2 generally comprises a board 21,a pair of wings 22 and a quick-release fastener 23.
The board 21 also has an upwardly curved front end for reducing the resistance when moving over snow or grass. Two blocks 211 each having a hole 212 are provided on the top of the board 11 and located respectively close to two ends of the board 21. The bottom of the board 21 is provided with a blade (not shown). The wing 22 is formed with a notch 221 at the top and has two downwardly outwardly extending legs 222 each formed with a hole 223. The wing 22 is fixedly mounted on the two blocks 211 by two bolts 224 extending through the holes 223 of the legs 222 and the holes 212 of the blocks 211. It should be noted that the wing 22 may be riveted to the blocks 22 or otherwise secured to the blocks 211 by any means well known to those having ordinary skill in the art.

bolt 231 having internal threads adapted to engage with the threaded rod 233. The threaded rod 233 extends through the rear fork B of the skate bike and the notches 221 of the wings 22 and is turned to engage with the tubular bolt 231. When desired to fasten the rear ski 2 on the skate bike, the handle 232 is first moved towards the wing 22, the projection 223 of the handle 232 will urge the collar 235 to bear against the wing 22 thereby finely securing the wings 22 to the rear fork B of the skate bike therefore fastening the rear ski 2 to the skate bike. When desired to dismantle the rear ski 2 from the skate bike, it is only necessary to move the handle 232 away from the wing 22 and turn the handle 232 to disengage the threaded rod 233 from the tubular bolt 231.
In assembly, the wings 11 and 21 are first respectively engaged with boards 11 and 21, and then the quick-release fastener 13 is inserted through the front fork A and a center hole of the front `wheel C to engage with the tubular bolt 133. Thereafter, the quick-release fastener 13 is moved towards the wing 12 to force the collar 135 to bear against the wing 12 thereby firmly securing the front ski 1 to the skate bike, so that the front wheel C of the skate bike is arranged above the board 11 and the board 11 is designed for moving over snov@, or grass. Similarly, the quick-release fastener 23 is mowed towards the wing 22 to urge the collar 235 against the wing 20 to secure the rear ski 2 to the skate bike, so that the rear wheel D of the skate bike is
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
mounted above the board 21.
As the boards 11 and 21 are designed to be in contact with the ground, the skate bike can be moved over the snow or grass. The boards 11 and 21 are larger than the wheels C and D in the area in contact with the ground, so that front board 11 can be used for forming a road track and removing snow, while the rear board 21 for removing snow. The blade (not shown) at the bottom of the boards 11 and 21 are designed for preventing the skate bike from sliding sideward inadvertently.
When desired to use the skate bike to move on smooth roads, simply disengage the front and rear skis 1 and 2 from the skate bike by releasing the quick-release fasteners 13 and 23 and then put them back to engage with the wheels C and D of the skate bike.
It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without
