Abstract

The bookmark includes a pair of adhesive strips 3 and a rectangular window 2 such that the bookmark can be removably attached to a page and a portion of the text viewed through the window. The window may be magnifying. The bookmark may include a magnetic strip or a bar code.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> The Sticky Bookmark The invention relates to a sticky bookmark, which highlights text through a clear cutout window.
Bookmarks are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage of being held loosely in a book, thus giving the reader upon return to a specific page, no indication as to where he or she left off.
The main aim of this invention is to allow the reader to accurately return, not only to a page in a book, but to the text too.
The sticky bookmark is made of either plastic, like a credit card, or plain card, and is adhesive on one side, by way of one or more wipeable gummed strips.
The sticky bookmark will be of a thickness required to allow for easy location of a specific page once the book has been closed upon it.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig 1 shows the front view of the sticky bookmark, it's main body 1 which is solid and is made of either plastic or paper card. Also we see 2, which is the clear cutout within the bookmark's main body.
Fig 2 shows the underside of the sticky bookmark and it's 3 gummed strips. It is this side of the bookmark that is placed against the page in the book, with the clear window in the bookmark placed over the text in question.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
The sticky bookmark serves a number of purposes over and above simply marking the page where the reader last left off. This sticky bookmark also clearly marks the last portion of text read by the reader, or any section of text the reader may wish to return to. It does this by means of a clear window (Fig 1 item 2) cut from the solid card (plastic or paper) that the bookmark is made from, and by means of a sticky gummed strip (or strips) (Fig 2 item 3) on its underside.
The sticky bookmark will be manufactured to any size according to its uses. Ce.Ti"1, Specific applications anticipated by this applicant include library cards, Airline Air Miles#cards (both using additional magnetic or bar code strips), and marketing platforms. It is also anticipated by this applicant that further applications of this invention may include a magnifying window for the poorly sighted.
