Abstract

A removable wheelbarrow insert having dimensions allowing it to fit inside a conventional wheelbarrow is provided having a folded over top edge which wraps around the upper edge of the conventional wheelbarrow. The insert may be constructed from plastics or metal, and may be provided with a device for facilitating its securement to or detachment from the wheelbarrow. The insert allows materials to be removed from the wheelbarrow and transported away from the wheelbarrow, and allows the wheelbarrow to be used for two different uses without it being cleaned in the mean time, ie. carrying mortar in the insert before its removal allows dry sand to be carried in the clean wheelbarrow.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> Wheelbarrow Insert Description This invention relates to a wheelbarrow insert, which is to say that it is an insert that is placed inside a wheelbarrow.
The materials foreseen to be used for the insert are-: A/ Galvanised Steel B/ Heavy-duty frost proof plastic The purpose of the insert is to provide both protection and strength to the wheelbarrow giving it-added lifespan.
Also, as a means of easily transporting of materials carried within the wheelbarrow to otherwise inaccessible points, i.e. second floor/roof.
Both versions will be waterproof, hence preventing leakage of wet materials i.e. mortar/concrete.
Usage of the wheelbarrow inserts Wheelbarrows tend to come under a great deal of wear and tear causing the internal facing of the barrow to become dented and heavily soiled with materials extremely difficult to remove if left for some time. When using the insert for carrying mortar or concrete, the insert can be easily removed, thus allowing the now clean barrow to be used immediately for sand and bricks etc.
When this use is no longer required the insert can be easily replaced for further use of wet materials i.e. concrete/mortar or sand /soil etc. At the end of day the insert can be easily removed and washed ready for the following day.
Estimated cost of inserts The cost of the wheelbarrow inserts would be approximately 10.00+vat.
The price is approximate and relates to both Heavy-duty frost proof plastic and Galvanised steel. The thickness of the wheelbarrow inserts will be approx. 2-4mm with an extra thick area around the on off handle for added strength approx. 5-8mm(figure b). The inserts can be made for any barrow currently on the market or produced in conjunction with it's own barrow.
