Abstract

236,463. Fairbrother, H., (Mooney, Ltd., A. G.). Jan. 6, 1925. Stiffeners. - In a shoe shank stiffener, of the kind described in Specification 222,685, which is made of bent sheet metal with a dependent longitudinal groove 20, the heel end of the shank is tapered at 25 to adapt it to pass between the nails for securing the heel to the upper of the shoe. The stiffener may have a hole 19 for fixing. The grooved stiffener is bent to the shape of the arch of the shoe with the deepest part of the groove at the centre 24. The stiffener is notched at 26 for a securing staple 27. In a modification, Fig. 6, the stiffener is secured by stamped up portions 30 which enter the insole.
