Abstract
A cover 1 for a radiator is made from two layers of soft washable fabric. One layer is of wadding, and the other of breathable material. The cover is held in place over the front surface of the radiator by strip magnets 13 slipped into open-ended pockets 7 sewn into the sides, top and bottom of the cover. The areas of the cover positioned at the corners of the radiator include shoulder pads 2. Strips of hooked elements 6 are used to hold the cover sides and bottom in place. The top of the cover will fit down the back of the radiator as far as the wall brackets. Small attached covers 4 for the water inlet and outlet regulating taps for the radiator are stitched to the main body of the cover 1 by means of a small length of material or tab 3.
Description
Radiator And Tap Safety Cover (R A T S C) 2363840 scription The Radiator
and Tap Safety Cover is directed towards young children can elderly people as they are both unfortunately known to be unstable on their feet, and can be prone to falls at any given time.
The Radiator and Tap Safety Cover could by design give peace of mind to parents and carers to know their loved one have protection from bums and nasty fall which can damage people quite seriously at any time The ever popular radiator and taps that sit beside it can and do at times become very dangerous.
The cover is made up of a layer of wadding, covered with a breathable layer of airtex type material (Like that of tablet wash bags for washing machines).
The sides are held in place (behind the radiator) by means of strip magnet,( as shown in dia 3) which is slipped into a pocket sewn onto the side of cover (This also applies to the pockets on the top and the bottom of the R A T S C) with the magnetic strip concealed in an open end pocket it is easily removed for washing purposes.
At the top of the main body section, inlayed on both corners (as shown in dia 3 no 2) are shoulder pads, these are in place to prevent someone falling onto the welded edge that inevitably is on all radiators.
These areas can be potentially lethal to a young child or elderly person in mid fall (or anyone else unfortunate enough to fall).
Where the shoulder pads fold (as shown in dia 3 no 2), from the top edge of the cover in a downward fashion is permanently stitched to what would be the top to 1/3 down the cover on both sides of the cover This will allow the cover to fit over the radiator like a jumper This along with the sides (as shown in dia 3 no 9) and under fold are held (as shown in dia 2 no 7) in place with magnetic strips (as shown in dia 3 no 13) that cheerfully sits in a pocket sewn in place on the inside of the cover Also on the under fold is sewn on each end a small strip of Velcro (as shown in dia 3 no 6) to keep the corners tidy At the bottom side panels (as shown in dia 3 no 9) is a second small strip of Velcro (this is not visible but is used in connection with side flaps to under flap (as shown in dia 2 indicated by a X).
When radiator cover is in place and bottom flap is lifted to meet the side flaps then both pieces of Velcro will then connect to form a tidy corner.
The top of the cover will fit down the back of the radiator (as shown in dia 2 no 10) as far as the wall brackets (as shown in dia 2 no 11) to create a snug fit.
The tap covers are "puppet like" characters, which are hollow centred to allow the tap to be inserted it is then held in place by a Velcro wrap (as shown in dia 4 "Tap Cover') around which, when in place is tidy in looks and should not allow a child to turn the regulating tap and should stop any serous damage occurring in the unfortunate event of a fall These are stitched to the main body of the cover by means of a tab (A length of material sewn between the main body and the tap cover, so that tap cover parts can not be mislaid during washing).
The Radiator and Tap Safety Cover sells itself where safety in the home and or anywhere children or elder persons are known to use regularly such as ie: creche or day care facilities The cover would not be expensive to manufacture so the price to the public purchasing this product would be kept to a minimal.
Claims (1)
- Claims:-1 A safety device for a radiator and adjacent taps or alike article comprising a double layer of soft materials,(ie one layer of wadding and one layer of airtex type material) to overlie at least part of a radiator and adjacent elements With means to keep secure when in place.2 A safety cover as claimed in claim 1 Wherein magnetic material is concelled within the cover to ensure a secure fit, these are concelled on all edges, top, bottom, sides, on the reverse side of the main body Also attached are velcro or alike stick and rip attachments, based at the bottom of the side panels and again at both ends of the turn up edge of the bottom panel.3 A safety cover as claimed in claim 1 Wherein means of soft wadding or alike material used for padding articals attached in place at the top of the cover, as to cover the right angles at the top of the heater panel.4 A safety cover as claimed in claim 1 has means of glove or alike articals to concelle the elements that sit adjacent to a heater panel.A safety cover as claimed in claims 1 and 2 a magnetic material This is concelled in the cover by means of an open end pocket, placed at the top, bottom and both side edges 6 A safety device as claimed in claims 1 and 4 has two elements of stick and rip type fabric in means to hold the glove like cover to the elements adjacent to the heater panel securely.7 A safety cover as claimed in claims 1,4 and 6 the glove that covers the adjacent attachments to the heater panel or alike artical, is made up of soft padding pocket or alike artical and rip and stick elements.8 A safety cover as claimed in claims 1 and 7 refers to smaller elements being adjacent to the main body of the invention, are attached by means of a small soft length of fabric of which holds the two elements of the cover attached, perminantly.
