Abstract

A massage/manipulation ball that is made of rubber and is inflatable to the desired pressure of an individual so that the body of the user and the ball moulded together. One half of the ball has a stippled effect so that movement across or over the ball would have a massage effect. The other half of the ball has a ribbed effect that would serve to manipulate the anatomy as the body was moved across or over it.

Description

2363574 Inflatable Massage/manipulation ball.
This invention relates to an inflatable massage/manipulation ball.
There are many well known massage/manipulation devices that are of a solid fixed construction.
According to the present invention there is provided a piece of massage/manipulation equipment that adapts/moulds to the individual person that is using it The ball would be made of rubber and be inflatable which would allow for the ball and the body to mould together and for the degree of massage/manipulation to vary frcm relatively soft to quite hard.
Specific embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figure 1 shows the raised stippled/dimpled effect of one half of the ball.
Figure 2 shows a cross section of the above.
Figure 3 shows an aerial view of the above.
The stipples would massage the anatomy as the person sat/lay/curled round the ball whilst moving backwards, forwards and from side to side The effect would be controlled by the pressure of the ball and the pressure applied by the individual.
Figure 4 shows the raised ribbed effect of one half of the ball.
Figure 5 shows a cross section of the above.
Figure 6 shows the front view of one of the ribs, each of which would be indented.
The ribbed section would contort to the skeletal structure of the person laying or curling round the ball that was then moved forward, backwards or side to side.
The degree of manipulation would be controlled by the inflation of the ball and pressure applied by the individual.
The stipples and ribs would be made of rubber.
The balls would come in various sizes depending on which particular part of the anatomy it was desired to massage/manipulate.
The degree of inflation of the ball to be controlled by a valve Affording the option of having a firm surface or slightly deflating the ball and allowing a more forgiving surface This allows the individual to determine the degree that the ball will mould to their body shape.
The stipples and the ribs would be comprised of solid rubber, which would in turn form part of the moulded ball The stipples would be about 1 centimetre in height The ribs would be about 2 centimetres in height.
The massage/manipulation effect would be gained by the individual:- i) sitting, ii) laying forwards or backwards iii) laying on the floor with legs over the ball and moving backwards, forwards or sideways.
A smaller type of the same ball would be used for the feet, neck and shoulders The stipples and ribs on this one would be smaller.

Claims (9)

Claims
1 A massage/manipulation ball made of rubber with a ribbed and stippled surface.
2 A massage/manipulation ball as claimed in claim one that can be inflated to the pressure required by an individual Thus allowing the ball to mould to the shape of the person using it.
3 A massage/manipulation ball as claimed in claim 1 and 2 that is round to allow it to move as the person using it moves forwards, backwards and side to side.
4 A massage/maniplulation ball as claimed in claim 1 and 2 that has a stippled effect on one half of the ball to have a massage effect when used by an individual.
A massage/manipulation ball as claimed in claim 1 and 2 that has a ribbed effect covering one half of the ball to have a manipulation effect when used by the individual.
6 Amassage/manipulation ball as claimed in claim 1, 2, 3 and 4 to be of varying sizes depending on the particular part of the anatomy to be worked.
7 A massage/manipulation ball substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 6 of the accomapnying drawings.
8 A massage/manipulation ball as above, the stipples would be solid rubber about 1 centimetre in height, the ribs would be of solid rubber about 2 centimetres in height The stipples and ribs to be moulded to the ball as a single unit.
9 A massage/manipulation ball whose inflation is controlled by means of a valve.
A massage/manipulation ball to be of various sizes, the smaller ball would have slightly smaller stipples and ribs.
