Testing-apparatus. - In apparatus for testing prismatic lens systems in which a collective lens system k, i is used in conjunction with the lens system l to be tested serves to image a mark h<1> for observation by an optical system n<1>, n<2>, the prismatic effect of the svstem l is eliminated' by the insertion into the path of the rays of a prism, the refractive angle of which may be variable. In the apparatus described which is of the character of the apparatus described in Specification 12100/14, the variable angle prism consists of a plano-convex lens q<1> and a plano-concave lens q<2>, of which the latter is mounted so that it mav be rotated about the common centre of the curved surfaces of the two lenses giving the plane surfaces of the lenses a variable inclination to each other. The extent of the rotation necessary to restore the deflected image of the mark h<1> to its position in coincidence, with that of the mark i<1> in the eyepiece n<2> is indicated on the drum scale r<4> and is a measure of the prismatic effect of the lens system l.
