Abstract

A security latch comprising of a two piece interlocking set, one of which, the wall bracket, is affixed in such a manner to the wall, that it can take onto it the second piece of the set, a block, that when slotted fully onto the bracket provides the locking systems required. The tongue and slot system enables interlocking to be simple yet firm, giving rigidity and reliability. The block section of the latch has a small handling knob (see Ref A Fig 2-A) for ease of movements on and off the bracket.

Description:
There are a number of security devices available, however, most are either awkward to operate, or are prone to having their security value questioned.
This simple yet strong latch, enables the user, especially the not so strong, to position the latch in such a manner, as to give a firm locking system, without the threat of it being breached and subsequent unwarranted entry gained.
There are two main positions of the latch, depending on the type/style of door window it is to protect.
The locking system is a slot and tongue mechanism, giving a light, and secure form of protection.
The wall bracket section of the latch made of metal.
The block section of the latch is made from a toughened plastic/or metal.
Drawings accompanying the description give details.
Fig 6-B, shows the bracket section of the latch. Fig 6-C, shows the block section of the latch, including the handling knob - Ref A - on the drawing, and the slots (X,YJ) for taking the bracket tongues (J & K).
Figs 1 -A and 5 -A show the latch in a position where the bracket has to be on the same angle as the door/window it is protecting.
Figs 2-A and 4-A show the latch in a position where the bracket has to be on a 900 angle to the door/window it is protecting.
Figs 3-A shows the security latch in a parked mode whilst not in use.
In both operational modes, the latch provides a non-moveable form of security, both with the latch itself and the door/window it is braced against this tightness of fit against door/window is attained through correct alignment of the wall brackets.
