Abstract

Referring to FIGURE 2 the door security lock has a upper restraining block (2) and a lower mounting and locating block (1). The lower mounting and locating block is to be permanently fixed to a door jamb or threshold, the body of which containing two holes (3 and 4) to accommodate installation of the upper restraining blocks pins (5 and 6). The upper restraining block being a removable restraint to allow ease of installation , when once installed preventing the door from being opened.

Description

HOUSEHOLD DOOR SECURITY LOCK This invention relates to a general household door security lock.
The door security lock is in the form of two interconnecting blocks, which are conjunctively installed on a door threshold.
Thus once installed will prevent the door from opening.
The door security lock is to be provided for both left-hand and right-hand inwardly opening doors, each being exactly opposite one another.
For simplicity the following text and drawings refer to the left-hand inwardly opening door only.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which : FIGURE 1 shows the door security lock assembly mounted in position on a door threshold.
FIGURE 2 shows the separation of the door security lock.
Referring to FIGURE 2, the security lock comprises two major components, a lower mounting and locating block (1) and a upper restraining block (2) in the form of a wedge releasably retained by means of a split pin or padlock (not shown).
The lower locating block (1) is mounted upon the door threshold via two fixing bolts (not shown) through the centreline of its body.
The upper face of the block containing two holes, primary (3) and secondary(4).
The primary (3) being a blind hole , the purpose of which is to allow insertion of the upper restraining blocks location pin ( 5) . The secondary ( 4 ) being a through hole the purpose of which is to allow insertion of the upper restraining blocks penetration pin ( 6 ) .
The upper restraining block (2) is mounted upon the upper face of the lower locating block (1) , when located in position by its two pins (5 and 6) it rests flush with the doors inner face (8) , thus preventing the door from opening.

Claims (5)

1) A household door security lock comprising of a lower mounting and
locating block and a upper restraining block.
2) A lower mounting and locating block as claimed in Claim (1) wherein door threshold fixing means are provided on the body centreline in the form of two through holes.
3) A lower mounting and locating block as claimed in Claim (1 or 2) wherein guide means are provided on the upper face in the form of blind and through hole co - operative with the upper restraining block.
4) An upper restraining block as claimed in Claim (1) wherein door stop means are provided due to the block being in the shape of a wedge.
5) An upper restraining block as claimed in Claim ( 1 or 4) wherein installation means are provided by two integral pins.
