Abstract

A lockable motorbicycle stand 1 has a locking mechanism 5 which cooperates with hole 6 in the strike plate 2 thus preventing the stand pivoting on the strike plate 2 that is attached permanently to the frame/chassis of the motorbicycle.

2362364 LOCKABLE MOTORBICYCLE STAND This invention relates to a lockable

motorbicycle stand.

Motorbicycle stands either centre or side have the purpose to support a motorbicycle m an upright position when not m use, stationary or parked. The stands are usually permanently secured to the chassis/frame of the motorbicycle, roughly halfway between the wheels. Motorbicycle stands can be engaged and disengaged at will by swinging the arm of the stand about a pivot point. When disengaged or out of use the stand is retamed in a position m order not to effect the manoeuvrability of the vehicle by a retention spring.

According to the present invention motorbicycle stands are usually fixed permanently to the chassis or base frame with the means to allow the leg of the stand to rotate about a pivot point to engage or disengage the stand when required, the stand being adapted to lock m place when it is engaged to support the motorbicycle.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawmgs m which:- Figure 1 shows a motorbicycle with the stand locked and engaged to support it m a parked position, Figure 2 shows a motorbicycle with the stand disengaged and unlocked in order 1 not to hinder the manoeuvrability of the motorbicycle., Figure 3 illustrates the stand engaged and locked in position.

Figure 4 illustrates the stand unlocked and retained In a disused position by a retention spring (not shown), and Figure 5 shows the stand m use and locked m place as if looking from the rear to the front of the motorbicycle.

Referring to the drawings the stand comprises a leg 1 which supports the motorbicycle when in use, a strike plate 2 which the leg pivots about to engage and disengage the stand and is permanently secured to the chassis/frame of the motorbicycle and a lock 5 which can lock the leg 1 to the strike plate 2 when the stand is in use to support the motorbicycle as shown in Fig. 1 and Fig.3.

In order to engage the stand and lock it from a disengaged or out of use position, as illustrated m Fig.2 and FigA, the leg of the stand 1 should be moved against the pull of the retention spring (not shown) m the direction of the arrow 9 about the pivot point 3, shown M Fig.2 and FigA, to the point where it is prevented from moving any further by the stop block 4, at this point the stand is in a sufficient position to support the motorbicycle, as shown m Fig. 1 and Fig.3, and the lock is aligned with the hole 6 in the strike plate 2, the lock can now be activated to prevent the leg 1 being retracted.

To disengage the stand the steps above are camed out in the reverse sequence, only the stand returning and beIng held In a disused position by the retention spring (not shown).

1. A lockable motorbicycle stand comprises a stand and a lock, the stand being adapted to lock m position when in use or engaged to support the motorbicycle.
