Abstract

A protective riding coat includes two layers of material between which padding, 7, lies. The padding 7 is situated predominantly on the front and back body sections of the coat The elastic 1 on the sleeves and waist, and the zip 3 help hold the coat in place and prevent draughts, making the coat warm and more weatherproof. The coat is also held in place by a removable support 2 and velcro (R.T.M.) or buttons 8 to prevent the coat riding up. The coat may be made from windproof, waterproof or breathable and durable material. Sleeves 5 may be detachable via a zip 4 so that the coat is still usable in warm weather.

Description

1 ' 1 2362311 BODY PROTECTOR - PADDED HORSE RIDING COAT This invention
relates to a Body Protector of a type which includes Protective Pads for the Horse Riding Coat Body Protectors are well known, but this body protector is incorporated into the Horse Riding Coat between the inside lining and the outside of the coat providing more protection against serious injury for the Horse Rider.
This is an article of clothing in the form of a coat which includes protective pads between the lining and outer material helping to protect the horse rider from injury, but making it easier to wear at all times. The coat can be waterproof and windproof, it can be a summer or winter coat with removable sleeves and has elastic around the waist and wrist to hold the coat in place, and removable elastic straps to go between the legs for more support.
Figure 1 shows a front view of the whole coat Figure 2 shows a back view of the whole coat Figure 3 shows an inside front view of the Protective Pads.
Figure 4 shows an inside back view of the Protective Pads.
Figure 5 shows a view of the removable sleeves and removable straps.
In Figure 1, 1 shows elastic on sleeves and waist, 2 shows the removable support, 3 shows the zip for the coat, 4 shows the zips for the removable sleeves and 5 shows the sleeves, 6 shows the ouide front of the coat, 7 shows the Protective Pads, 8 shows the buttons or VeIctoLaps and 9 shows the holders for 8.
Figure 2 shows a back view of the coat; 1 shows elastic on sleeves and waist, 2 shows the removable support, 4 shows the zips for the removable sleeves and removable support, 5 shows the sleeves, 6 shows the outside back view of the coat, 7 shows the Protective Pads and 8 shows the buttons or Velcro straps.
Figure 3 shows the front inside view with 7 being the Protective Pads and 3 being the main zip.
figure 4 shows the back inside view with 7 being the Protective Pads.
Figure 5 shows the removable sleeves and support with elastic straps; 1. being elastic for the wrist, 2 being the removable support, 4 being the zips for 5 which are the sleeves and 8 being the buttons or Velcro straps.
In Figure 1, 6 is the main part of the Protective Coat being waterproof and windproof. Figures 1, 2,3 and 4 show 7 being the Protective Pads which are to go between the inside and outside of the coat, 1 and 8 are to hold the coat in place. In Figure 1, 4 is to zip 2 and 5 to the coat, 9 is the safety holder for 8, and 3 is the main zip for opening and closing the coat.

Claims (5)

1. An article of clothing in the form of a coat which includes protective pads between the lining and outer material incorporated into the garment, making it easier to wear at all times, thus helping to protect the horse rider from serious injury.
2.
A coat as claimed in Claim 1 which is made from rainproof and/or windproof materials giving the wearer protection against cold or wet weather.

A coat as claimed in Claim 1 or 2 which may have detachable sleeves allowing the wearer to use it in warmer or dry weather.
4. A coat as claimed in Claims 1, 2 and 3 which not only gives the wearer more protection whilst riding horses than a coat without such protective pads, but is also weatherproof. (Unlike a'body protector' which is the only protection available at the present time and can easily not be worn.)
5. A coat with protective pads built into it as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
