Gaiters for laminated springs comprise a metal housing of channel section and one side formed as a spring plate detachably mounted at each end on the housing and adapted by reason of its unstressed shape to press against the spring and assist in retaining the gaiter in position without rattle. At least one end of the spring plate has sliding connections with the housing. As shown, the channel-section housing 2 is inverted and the spring plate 8 is attached by bolts 9 carried in slots 10 in the sides 3 of the housing. Leather or other straps 4 secured within the ends of the housing serve to retain lubricant. The housing may comprise two or more channel-section lengths pivoted or movably connected together, the spring plate being continuous throughout the length of the gaiter. The sections of the housing may overlap.
