Abstract

An aerodynamically-shaped, pre-moulded, edible, water soluble, carrying projectile, enables an angler to cast out baits, made from powdered food and seeds, over substantial distances. An encapsulated lead weight, or hook-bait and hook, allows the projectile to sink to the bottom of the water quickly, thus incurring no loss in accuracy, or unwanted spreads of bait. The water-soluble coating ensures that no disintegration occurs until the projectile has been immersed upon the bottom of the water for a controlled length of time. Water soluble string may be tied in loops around the projectile to retain its form.

This invention relates to an aerodynamically-shaped, pre-moulded, edibleY water soluble, carrying projectile.

Ball pellets are a well-known item of fishing bait. Ball pellets consist of a sphere of attractive powdered foods and seeds, formulated to be hard in texture but to break down when immersed under water over a set period of time. Ball pellets are normally spherical to assist in gaining distance and accuracy when catapulted or thrown into the designated fishing areas. Due to the materials used within the manufacturing process, the ball pellet is very light in weight, therefore distance and accuracy is lost should a crosswind occur.

Another method of putting powdered foodstuffs and seeds out to the designated fishing area is to use a spod. A spod consists of a rocket shaped tube, open at one end, tapered closed at the other end. The spod floats and is tied onto the angler's line at the large open end, and the angler is able to fill the spod with the chosen foodstuffs and cast the spod to the required area. Once the spod has hit the water, the food stuffs empty out from the spod, diffusing through the water until settling at the bottom. Although accurate for casting to the chosen area, accuracy is lost due to the light weight of the foodstuffs involved diffusing the bait over a much wider area than is generally required.

The final way of getting a specified amount of powdered foods and seeds out to the designated fishing areas is to bind the two foodstuffs with water, forming a sticky paste, formed into balls which can then be catapulted, thrown in by hand, or moulded around a lead weight enabling the angler to cast the paste ball and hook bait to the chosen area. The paste ball tends to break up as soon as it hits the water surface, again diffusing the contents over a wider area than is generally required incurring a loss in accuracy.

According to the present invention, there is hereby provided an aerodynamically-shaped, pre-moulded, edible, water soluble, carrying projectile, comprising of an aerodynamically-shaped, two piece, or singular, edible, water soluble shell, into which the angler's lead weight, or hook bait and hook can be encapsulated. The aerodynamicallyshaped, pre-moulded, edible, water-soluble shell is retained around the lead weight or hook bait and hook by means of a water-soluble string tied in loops around it. To aid the projectile's strength, a water-soluble skin can be applied. The shell itself consists of attractive powdered foodstuffs and seeds, pre-moulded into an aerodynamic shape.

Claims

1. An aerodynamically-shaped, pre-moulded, water-soluble, edible projectile which encapsulates and carries the angler's lead weight or the hook bait and hook, either together or separately.

2. A water-soluble, protective, strengthening outer coating can also be applied to the aerodynamically-shaped, pre-moulded, edible, watersoluble, carrying projectile.
