Abstract
A dust sheet comprising two or more panels (12, figs 4,5 and 7) releasably joined together by a zip or similar fastening device 7 to provide a dust-free screen. The dust sheets are removably attached to the wall by a combination of a hook and eye binding tape 4 and a double-sided adhesive tape 4. The panels can be unfastened (as shown in the figure) to provide access through the dust sheet. Pockets 10 may be provided which contain weights to form an improved seal with the floor. If non-transparent the dust sheet may have viewing windows (9, fig 4) inserted in the panels.
Description
2360452 ADJUSTABLE DUST SHEETS This invention relates to adjustable
dustsheets.
Dust sheets or dust covers are well known and are comprised ofplastic, cloth or a similar material thrown over or hung to protect objects from dust and dirt.
Most dust covers when hung, across an entrance or a new entrance being cut into a wall, they do not completely seal the adjoining room from dust. This can cause damage to existing wall and floor covering materials.
According to the present invention it provides a dust-free seal protection against dust by means of the seal created by the adjustable dust sheets. These adjustable dust sheets comprise of two or more panels of heavy duty plastic, cloth or a similar material square sheets zipped together by heavy duty zips or a similar fastening device. These panels are also zipped or fastened together in increasing sequences of panels, depending on the width of coverage required, when hung, across an existine, entrance, apeture or proposed entrance or apeture to be cut through an existing wall. These scaled panels will protect the adjoining room from dust and draughts. These panels when hung on a wall are sealed by means of a combination system of permanent velcro (RTM) type or similar binding tape stitched to the panels top and sides. This in turn is alined and attached to a similar velcro (RTM) type or similar binding tape on a double-sided adhesive tape attached to the wall surrounding the top and sides of the entrance or proposed entrance. Any panel can be temporary un-zipped or unfastened to allow access to the adjoining room.
The panels can be reused for another project. The velcro (RTM) type binding tape can be removed from the double-sided adhesive tape attached to the wan by rolling onto a rod or disc for reattaching to new double sided adhesive tape for use on the next project.
A specific embodiement of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accomanying drawings in which:- 0 Fig 1. Shows an existing wall with an existing entrance, apeture (window) or proposed brickwork to be removed to contruct a new entrance or apeture. Doorway 1 Proposed brickwork removal 2. Apeture/Window 3.
Fig 2. Shows a proposed roll 4 of double sided adhesive tape 5 with velcro (RTM) style or similar binding tape 6 attached to oneside.
Fig 3. Shows the proposed roll 4 tape attached by its adhesive backing to the wall above and to the sides of the proposed entrance 2.
Fig 4. Shows the seperation of two adjustable dust sheets 12. There are zips or similar fastners. 7. Down both sides there are strips of velcro (RTM) style or sindlar binding tape 8 stiched to the top and sides. At the base of each panel is a zipped weight bag 10. And binding tape 11. In non-transparent panels 12 there are viewing panels 9. Fig 4.
Fig5 Shows the two adjustable dustsheets 12 zipped together 7 and the corresponding bindings 4 and 8 attached to each other thus forrning a dust free seal Fig 6. Shows the adjustable dust sheets 12 unzipped or unfastened for access and tabs 11 attached to similar tape 4 on the wall or panels to hold the panels back during temporary access.
Fig 7. Shows where more than two adjustable dust sheets 12. Can be zipped or fastened tocether to cover any width required for an existin entrance or proposed entrance. Any 0 9 panel can be unzipped or unfastened to give temporary access.
Fig 8 Shows where the velcro type or similar binding tape 6. Is being removed ftom the double sided adhesive 5 Fig 2 still attached to the wall by rolling onto a rod or disc 14.
C Referring to the drawings, the adjustable dust sheets 12. Fig 4. Comprise of two or more panels zipped or fastened together and by alining the corresponding velcro, (RTM) type or similar binding tape system with a similar binding tape on double sided adhesive tape attached to the wall, when joined, forms a dust free seal around an existing entrance or a new entrance or apeture to be cut into the wall 2. Fig 1. The adjoining room is thus scaled from dust entering it from the room in which construction of a new entrance is being carried out.
In order to decide on the measurements for attaching the adhesive binding tape 4 Fig 2 to the wall surrounding the entrance or proposed entrance. One must decide how many adjustable dust sheets 12 Fig 4 must be zipped or fastened together to cover the area allowing an overlap of approximately 20 cnis surround. The measurement between the two outer vertical binding tapes 8. And the top horizontallength of the binding tape 8 Fig 5., are transferred to the wall around the entrance or proposed entrance. Adhesive binding tape 4 Fig 3. Is attached to these measured lines on the wall. The linked panels are hung by alining and attaching the binding tape 8 to the adhesive tape 4 as in Fig 5. This forms a dust free sealed cover to the entrance or proposed entrance to be cut into the wall To gain access through the entrance or the proposed entrance, once the brick work or stone work has been removed, the zips or fasteners are unzipped or unfastened 7 in Fig 6. The weight bags 10 Fig 6 are held back for access by sinlar binding tape tags 11 Fig 6 attached to similar binding tape 4 placed on the wall Fig 6 or adjoining panels To remove the adjustable dust sheets the process is reversed.
The velcro (RTM) type binding tape 6 Fig 2 can be removed from bindingtape, adhesive doublesided 5 Fig 2 by rolling onto a rod or disc 14 as in Fig 8. This bindingtape can be reused by reattaching to a new roll of double-sided adhesive tape 5.
The heavy duty adjustable dust sheets are reused until damaged.

Claims (1)
1 Adjustable dust sheets comprising of two or more panels of heavy duty plastic, cloth or similar material sheets, zipped together by heavy duty zips or a similar fastening device and also zipped together in an increasing sequence of panels, depending on the width of the coverage required. This is to provide a dust free sealed screen when hung across an existing entrance, apeture or on a wall through which a proposed new entrance or apeture is to be cut. The sealed panels will protect the adjoining room from dust and droughts.
These hung panels are attached to the wall by means of a combination system of velcro (RTM) style or similar binding tape stitched to the panels top and sides this is attached to a reuseable velcro (RTM) style or similar binding tape backed by a doublesided adhesivetape thats placed on the wall surrounding the entrance or proposed entrance or apeture. Any panel can be temporary unzipped or unfastened to allow access. The panels can be reused when the velcro (RTM) style or similar binding tape is removed from the double sided adhesive tape on the wall for reattaching to new double sided adhesive tape.
2. Adjustable dust sheets as claimed in Claim 1 wherein each individual sheet is manufactured from heavy duty plastic, cloth or similar suitable material to form a non penetrating barrier against dust and draughts.
3. Adjustable dust sheet as claimed in Claim 1 has zips 8 Fig 4 or similar fastening device running along each vertical side. These sheets can be linked by this zip or fastening Z:
device.
4. Adjustable dust sheets as claimed in Claim 1, 2 and 3 can be zipped or fastened together Fig 5 to form increasing widths to be hung and cover any size entrance or proposed C entrance or apeture to be cut into an existing wall Fig 7.
