Abstract

235,911. British Tabulating Machine Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Bryce, J. W.). June 21, 1924, [Convention date]. Statistical machines; transfer mechanism.-The transfer mechanism is constructed and arranged so that the transfer parts normally connecting a selected denomination to the adjacent denomination may be disconnected, and re-connected directly to a non-adjacent denomination. The invention is set out as applied to electromagnetic transfer mechanism as described in Specification 168,311 and in which a gear-wheel for each denomination is clutched at the correct moment to a rotating shaft as in Specification 131,277. A transfer cam 19 on each numeral wheel rocks a. bell-crank 20 carrying a stepped member 24, 25, and 28 which co-operates, at the correct moment and when a universal bail 26 is lowered, with blades 23, 27, 34 to close contacts 30, 31. Each pair of contacts 30 is connected through: lines and plugs 36 with a line 39 leading to the countermagnet 16 of the next higher denomination, so that by disconnecting and re-connecting the plugs any denomination may be connected to transfer direct to any non-adjacent denomination.
