Description

2356729 Securitv Plates The invention relates to vehicle number plates.
Whilst number plates at present are a permanent fixture the new design would be removable and light enough to carry in a handbag or a pocket.
The plate would be made from a very light material, either plastic or aluminium. On the rear of the plate would be a very high quality velcro which would be held in place with pop rivets, this would secure the new plates to the old ones.
The new plates would be made up in sections, there would be one section for each letter or number. When complete each number plate would fold away to the size of one section.
The plate could then be easily removed by the owner and kept with him when the vehicle was not in use. When the owner wanted to use the vehicle all he would need to do is press the plate back into place.
The invention would make it difficult for a thief to steal the vehicle because the owner will have removed the plates when the vehicle was not in use. Therefore if a thief was to steal the vehicle it would alert both the public and the Police that the vehicle was not being driven by its rightful owner.
The windscreen should be engraved below the tax disc with the registration number so that if there are no plates on the vehicle the police can still identify it.
If anyone wanted to buy new plates they would have to produce identification relating to the vehicle in question to prove ownership. As this is an added secuity device it could also reduce the cost of insurance.
