Abstract
A detachable anti-insect screen is arranged to be slidable over a doorway, particularly a patio door. Preferably, the screen is formed from a PVC frame 1, a sheet of mesh 3 attached to the frame by staples or clips and supported by diagonal wires 2, and handles 4. The screen may be mounted by hooks 5 or clips 7 to tubing 6 so as to be slidable across the door aperture.
Description
1 2353815 Sliding Insect Screen The invention relates to the non-entry of
domestic property by flying insects, At certain times of the year especially during Summer months when temperatures are at their highest there is an increase in the number and variety of flying insects. To make life more comfortable necessitates the opening of doors which also allows the entrance of troublesome flying insects. To en oy cooler temperatures without insect invasion could be achieved by the j use of an insect screen.
According to the present invention there is provided a detachable sliding insect screen comprising a wooden or PVC frame 1; a sheet of mesh 3 attached to the frame by means of staples or clips; hooks 5 at the top and bottom of the screen to attach it to the metal tubing 6 above and below the door frame to allow sliding to the closed or open position; diagonal curtain wires 2 across the mesh screen 3 for support; handles 4 on the outside and inside.
It may be necessary to fix the metal tubing 6 to either the existing frame of the sliding or insideopening doors or to the brickwork above and below the doors; extended clips would then be required With the onset of inclement weather eg. gale force winds, the sliding screen may be detached from its fittings for winter storage.
The sliding screen will not cause any problem in the case of an emergency exit.
A specific embodiment ofthe invention will now be described byway of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which; Figure 1 shows a view from the outside of a house with the screen in place Figure 2 shows the screen itself with its components 1 e igure 3 illustrates how the screen is attached to the sliding fittings including clips 7 and hooks 5.
3 'laim A detachable, sliding, flying insectscreenforfittingoverpatio doors (sliding or internal opening) which can be easily mounted in summer and removed for storage in winter.
