Abstract

A waste pipe fitting comprises a main body part <B>J</B>, which can be joined or connected to a new or existing waste pipe, an inner part <B>L</B>, which when moved to the required position will open or close the flow of the waste pipe. A threaded collar <B>M</B> holds the inner part <B>L</B> and seals <B>N</B> in position.

2353469 SHEET WASTE PIPE ISOLATOR & CLEANER THIS INVENTION RELATES TO THE
PLUMBING TRADE AND IN PARTICULAR TO THE WASTE PIPES IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED TO A KITCHEN SINK UNIT, WASH BASIN, GENTS URINALS, AND OTHER SIMILAR TYPE WASTE PIPE SITUATIONS AND INSTALLATIONS.
AT THE PRESENT TIME A TYPICAL WASTE SYSTEM FOR THESE TYPE OF FIXTURES & FITTINGS, CONSISTS MAINLY OF A WASTE OUTLET FROM THE FIXTURE OR FITTING, THE WASTE OUTLET CONNECTS THE FIXTURE OR FITTING TO THE WASTE PIPES WHICH USUALLY INCORPORATE A TRAP, AS IN FIG. 1 & 2, WHICH ARE TYPICAL TYPES OF WASTE PIPE SYSTEMS FOR A MODERN TYPE OF SINK UNIT & PUBLIC TOILETS, GENTS URINALS ETC. WASTE TRAPS COME IN VARIOUS TYPES AND ARE REFERRED TO BY THEIR SHAPE OR PURPOSE INTENDED FOR, THE PURPOSE OF THE TRAP IN A WASTE PIPE SYSTEM IS TO PREVENT UNPLEASENT SMELLS ETC., FROM PASSING THE TRAP AS IN THEORY THE TRAP SHOULD ALWAYS CONTAIN A WATER SEAL.
PROBLEMS ARISE WHEN IT IS REQUIRED TO CLEAN THE WASTE PIPE SYSTEM INTERNALLY, IN THE NORMAL USE OF USING THESE FIXTURES & FITTINGS, DEPOSITS OF FOREIGN BODIES AND UNDESIRABLE GERMS, BACTERIA ETC. BUILD UP TO FORM A FILM ON AND AROUND ALL CREVICES IN AND AROUND THE WASTE OUTLET, TRAP, AND ALL OTHER FITTINGS WHICH FORM PART OF A WASTE SYSTEM. IN EXTREME CASES THESE DEPOSITS MAY BUILD UP SO THAT THE WASTE PIPE BECOMES COMPLETELY BLOCKED. AT THE PRESENT TIME THE MOST COMMON OR USUAL WAY OF TRYING TO CLEAN THE WASTE PIPE SYSTEM IS TO POUR BLEACH OR OTHER CLEANING AGENT DOWN THROUGH THE WASTE PIPE AND INTO THE TRAP, MOST OF THIS CLEANING AGENT RUNS AWAY DOWN THE WASTE PIPE AND DOES VERY LITTLE TO CLEAN WHAT IT IS INTENDED TO CLEAN, MAINLY BECAUSE THE CEANING AGENT IS NOT IN CONTACT WITH THE BUILD UP OF WASTE DEPOSITS LONG ENOUGH TO DO ANY GOOD, OR TO DO WHAT IT WAS INTENDED, WHICH IS TO BREAK UP ANY BUILD-UP OF HARMFUL DEPOSITS AND CLEAN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ALL SURFACES AND CREVICES IN THE WASTE SYSTEM. AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF COURSE WOULD BE TO DISMANTLE ALL PARTS OF THE WASTE SYSTEM AND CLEAN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, THIS METHOD MAY NOT BE PRACTICAL AS IT MAY REQUIRE A TRADESMAN TO RE- ASSEMBLE THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WITH THE PRESENT INVENTION IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO ISOLATE THE MAIN WASTE PIPE SYSTEM FROM THE FIXTURES AND FITTINGS AS SHOWN IN FIG. 1 & 2 OF THE ACCOMPANING DRAWINGS. BY THE USE OF THE WASTE PIPE ISOLATOR &CLEANERJ. WHICH DOES IN EFFECT SEAL OFF THE WASTE PIPE FROM THE FIXTURES AND FITTINGS, IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO FILL THE WASTE PIPE INCLUDING THE TRAP, WASTE OUTLET, ETC. WITH A CLEANING AGENT,AS SHOWN IN FIG. 3 & 4, OF THE ACCONIPANIONING DRAWINGS, WHICH CAN NOW BE LEFT FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME REQUIRED TO ALLOW THE CLEANING AGENT TO SHEET (2) DO WHAT IT WAS INTENDED TO DO, E.G. BREAK UP UNPLEASENT AND UNWANTED DEPOSITS WHICH HAVE FORMED, KILL GERMS AND BACTERIA IN CREVICES ETC. IN AND AROUND THE WASTE SYSTEM, WHICH COULD BE A POTENTIAL DANGER TO THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS ETC. WHO MAY COME IN CLOSE CONTACT.
THIS OPERATION OF CLEANING THE WASTE SYSTEM CAN BE CARRIED OUT EASILY AND QUICKLY BY ANYONE, IT CAN BE CARRIED OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS OR AS OFTEN AS MAY BE REQUIRED, NO SKILL IS REQUIRED TO USE THE WASTE PIPE ISOLATOR & CLEANER.

TO FLOW THROUGH THE FITTING AND AWAY INTO THE WASTE SYSTEM, WHEN THE INTERNAL PART L, AS SHOWN IN FIG. 8 & 9, IS TURNED OR ROTATED AT 90 DEGREES USING THE INTEGRAL HANDLE, IT SHUTS OFF OR ISOLATES THE WASTE PIPE SYSTEM FROM THE FIXTURES AND FITTINGS, THIS ALLOWS TWO OPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUT IF REQUIRED, FIRSTLY ANY MAINTAINANCE WHICH NEEDS TO BE CARRIED OUT CAN BE DONE AS ANY UNPLEASENT SMELLS SHOULD NOT NOW PASS THE ISOLATOR, TI-IIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT IF THE WORK CANNOT BE COMPLETED AT ONCE, SECONDLY IF THE WASTE PIPES AND FITTINGS REQUIRE CLEANING INTERNALLY BECAUSE OF A BUILD UP OF HARMFUL DEPOSITS, OR FOR A ROUTINE CLEANING OF WASTE PIPES AND FITTINGS A SOLUTION OF BLEACH OR OTHER CLEANING AGENT CAN NOW BE POURED INTO WASTE PIPES,TRAP ETC. AND LEFT FOR THE DESIRED PERIOD OF TIME TO DO AS INTENDED. WHEN DESIRED THE INTEGRAL HANDLE IS TURNED OR ROTATED BACK 90 DEGREES WHICH ALLOWS THE SOLUTION OR CLEANING AGENT TO RUN AWAY INTO THE MAIN WASTE SYSTEM, TIHE SEAL IN THE TRAP REMAINS AND THE SYSTEM IS BACK TO NORMAL USE. THIS OPERATION CAN BE CARRIED OUT AS AND WHEN REQUIRED. IF THE WASTE P11PE ISOLATOR AND CLEANER J, REQUIRES TO BE SERVICED FOR ANY REASON IT CAN BE CARRIED OUT BY TURNING OR ROTATING THE THREADED COLLAR M ANTI - CLOCKWISE AND REMOVED, THE INTERNAL PART L. FIG 8 & 9 CAN NOW BE REMOVED, USING THE FINGER GRIP IF REQUIRED, WITH PART L REMOVED THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE ISOLATOR J MAY BE CLEANED IF REQUIRED, ALSO PART L MAY BE CLEANED AND ANY RUBBER SEALS N REPLACED IF REQUIRED.THE PART L CAN NOW BE REPLACED AND HELD IN PLACE BY PART M WHICH IS NOW TURNED OR ROTATED CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT REACI-IES THE DESIRED POSITION.

SHEET ( -1) CLAILM 1 A WASTE PIPE ISOLATOR & CLEANER COMPRISES A MAIN BODY PART J, AN INNER MOVABLE OR REVOLVING PART L, WHICH WHEN TURNED OR MOVED TO TIHE DESIRED POSITION, OPENS OR CLOSES THE FLOW OF THE WASTE PIPE AS AND WHEN REQUIRED. SEALS N TO PREVENT LEAKAGE OF WASTE PRODUCTS, A THREADED COLLAR M TO KEEP THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY TOGETHER AS A UNIT, THREADED COLLARS AND SEALS N ( FIG. 13) TO JOIN OR CONNECTTHE MAIN BODY PART J TO A NEW OR EXISTING WASTE PIPE SYSTEM.
    CLAIM 2 A CLAIM AS IN CLAIM 1, WHEREBYTHE INTERNAL PART L MAY BE OF A TAPERED CYLINDER SHAPE, A PARALLEL CYLINDER SHAPE, A SINGLE, OR DOUBLE FLAP TYPE OF BAFFLE, OR ANY OTHER SHAPED PART, CH IS CAPABLE OF OPENING OR CLOSING THE FLOW OF THE WASTE PIPE AS AND WBENREQUIRED.
