Abstract

A diverter valve to enable waste water from a bath, basin, shower, etc to be diverted away from the sewage system and reused comprises a plastic tee junction with "O" ring connections and a valve blade movable between a first sealing position shown as "Fig. 7" on which the water is diverted to the sewage system and a second position, shown as "Fig. 8" in which water is directed to storage. The valve blade may have a leading edge shaped to cause turbulence and prevent sedimentation when in the first position. <IMAGE>

Description

WASTE WATER DDr:F.TIt;5 VALVE This invention relates to a diverter valve to enable waste water from a bath, basin, shower and the like to be diverted away from the sewage system and reused.
During periods of drought and hosepipe bans it is essential to conserve water strictly for household use only.
Under existing conditions, householders have no option after bathing, showering or washing but to waste their water by allowing the waste water to be drained away by existing F pework to the sewage system.
This invention in particular relates to a means of overcoming this problem and thus enabling persons to provide water for their garden, car washing and the like.in times of drought and hosepipe bans, by reusing the waste water and thereby reducing their water consumption.
Thus enabling persons to continue to use water for cultivatiqn and the like outside, when the use of water is prohibited at these times.
Such is the invention of a waste water diverting valve fitted to a new or existing bathroom external waste water pipeork that the waste water can be instantly diverted when required for a source of water with sufficient pressure to attach a hose or means to carry out the usual procedures for cultivation, to maintain garden growth and other required uses.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of the supply being redirected from a bathroom waste water pipe as shown by the accompanying drawings, therebeing 2 in number and as shown by the figure numbers as follows: Figure 1 shows in total the valve body in section and '0' ring seals in profile fig 1-1, fig 1-2, fig 1-3 and valve seating Fig 1-4 Figure 2 shows the valve in end section.
Figure 3 shows the actual valve body section in end profile. : Figure 4 shows the valve and shaft in end profile Figure 5 shows the valve actuating lever.
Figure 6 shows the valve actuating lever in profile.
Figure 7 shows the valve in closed position.
Figure 7-1, Fig 7-2 indicates the valves leading edges.
Figure 8 shows the valve closed to diverted position.
Figure 9 shows end profile in cross section of valve body and outlet pipe.
Figure 9-1 shows valve in situ in broken outline.
Figure 9-2 shows pipe profile in situ.
Figure 9-3 shows valve actuating lever on shaft in profile.
Figure 9-4 shows leading edge of valve.
Figure 10 shows pipe end reducer.
Figure 10-1 shows'0' ring seal.
The waste water diverter valve cen be fitted horizontally or vertically to the waste water pipe system for redirecting uscd waste water from the bath, basin or shower.
Figure 1 The diverter valve body is constructed of- plastic injection moulded parts and are of the push fit type using0' ring seals for the 3 joints required ref. Fig 1-1, Fig 1-2 and Fig 1-3. The valve can thus be fitted in situ to existing or new waste water pipe systems of the same size.
Figure 7-1 & Figure 7-2 This indicates the valve with the leading edge . This is to cause a turbulance within the diameter of the valve sufficient to prevent sedimentary deposits when in the closed position Figure 7 allowing water to freely enter the sewage system.
Figure 8 This indicates the valve closed to allow water to be diverted at full bore to the required outlet or storage container.
Figure 9 This indicates the valve including extended shaft at one end to allow an actuating lever Fig 5 to be fitted Fig 9-3. The valve is operated by turning one way or the other by hand when fitted to a low elevation waste water pipe system or by remote operation ie by cords, rods or chains fitted to both ends of the lever Fig 4 fitted on a high level waste water pie system.
Figure 10 This refers to a full bore inlet of the push fit system pipework with ' ring seal Fig 10-1 reducing to a bore sufficient to accept a hose pipe connection or be allowed to drain into a suitable water storage container.

Claims (1)

1 A waste water diverting valve comprising a moulded body in the form of a 'Tee', a means of diverting the flow of waste water from the condom waste pipe from a bathroom bath/basin/ /shower for the reuse of a source of water for the garden; car-wash and other allied uses by manually positioning the actual valve blade or remotely positioning by means of a cord, chain or rod to allow the reuse of the waste water having. a head pressure for the connection of a hose pipe or to a storage water butt.
2 A waste water diverting valve as claim I with a diverting blade fitted inside the body as a means to serve the branch cutlet.
3 A waste water diverting valve blade with a leading edge to cause turbulence to prevent sedementation for a flow of waste water in claim 1 4 A waste water diverting valve reducing fitment for extending the valve body to attach a hose to allow waste water to be diverted in claims 1, 2 & 3 5 A waste water diverting valve that can be used horizontally or vertically in claims 1, 2, 3,
4 6 A waste water divesting valve wherein the valve means is adapted for use with existing or new pipework of te 'Push ivit' or compression fit type as ih claims 4 & 5 7 A waste water diverting valve as claimed in any preceding clair wherein the valve is fitted to waste water piping from a bath, bathroom basin, shower, rainwater drain pipes and other waste water pipes excluding sewage.
