Abstract
Apparatus for the disposal of excrement comprising a housing (2), a perforated shelf (4) within the housing (2) and a rotatable water nozzle (12) which is couplable to a source pressurised water, whereby in use the nozzle (12) is arrange to rotate under the action of water pressure and to direct a moving jet of water onto the shelf (4). The excrement is placed onto shelf (4) and the disintegrated excrement passes into the drain via funnel arrangement (28).
Description
2353049 DISPOSAL OF ANIMAL EXCREMENT This invention relates to apparatus
for the disposal of animal excrement.
According to the invention there is provided apparatus for the disposal of animal excrement comprising a housing, a perforated shelf within the housing and a rotatable water nozzle which is couplable to a source of pressurised water, whereby in use, the nozzle is arranged to rotate under the action of water pressure and to direct a moving jet of water onto the shelf.
An embodiment of apparatus in accordance with the invention will now be described with a reference to the drawing which is a schematic crosssectional view of disposal apparatus.
With reference to the drawing, a generally cylindrical housing 2 has a shelf 4 which is slidable in the direction of arrow A to form a drawer. The drawer has a generally vertical back wall 6 and rests on a generally horizontal guide 8.
At the top of the housing, a water inlet 10 is provided which feeds a rotatable water nozzle 12. The nozzle rotates within a nozzle bearing 14.
2 At the base of the nozzle 12 are a plurality of water outlets 16 which create jets of water directed downwardly onto the shelf 4. Pressurised water supplied via the inlet not only provides water jets from the outlets 16 but also causes rotation of the nozzle 12 as a result of one or more generally laterally directed outlets (not shown) which create generally lateral and preferably generally tangential water jets.
Optionally, a disinfectant reservoir 18 is provided which introduces a controlled amount of disinfectant into the water flow through the nozzle 12 via a disinfectant inlet pipe 20. The reservoir 18 may also include a fragrance to mask any smells which may be produced by the apparatus.
The apparatus may be fixed in position via one or more fixing bracket 22.
In use, the drawer 24 is pulled out using a handle 26 and a quantity of animal excrement is placed on the perforated shelf 4.
Pressurised water is introduced through the water inlet 10 for example via a garden hosepipe. This causes the water nozzle 12 to rotate and to direct moving jets of water downwardly onto the perforated shelf 4. This causes the excrement to disintegrate and when the particles are sufficiently small, the particles are washed through the perforations in the perforated shelf 4. The disintegrated excrement and water then passes through a funnel arrangement 28 at the bottom of the housing 2. Preferably the 3 housing 2 is located over a drain so that the material passes into the drain when it leaves the housing via the funnel arrangement 28.

Claims (6)
1. Apparatus for the disposal of animal excrement comprising a housing, a perforated shelf within the housing and a rotatable water nozzle which is couplable to a source of pressurised water, whereby in use, the nozzle is arranged to rotate under the action of water pressure and to direct a moving jet of water onto the shelf.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the perforated shelf is slidable generally laterally into and out of the housing.
3. Apparatus according to claim I or claim 2, including a reservoir for containing disinfectant and/or fragrance, arranged to introduce a predetermined quantity of disinfectant and/or fragrance into water flowing through the water nozzle.
4. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, including a funnel arrangement at the base of the housing and located beneath the perforated shelf.
5. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, including fixing means for fixing the housing to a rigid structure such as a wall.
6. Apparatus for the disposal of animal excrement constructed and arranged as described herein with reference to the drawing.
