Abstract

An attachment for vacuum cleaners for polishing or dusting comprises a pad mounted rotatably in a housing on a vertical axis and having a propeller associated therewith. The device is driven by the suction of the vacuum cleaner -air is drawn in past the pad and over the propeller blades thereby causing the pad to rotate. The pad is removable from the propeller assembly by a click in fastening, for cleaning.

Description

2352164 Vacuum Rotating Duster and Polisher.
This invention relates to vacuum dusting and polishing All vacuum cleaners provide for the removal of dust from carpets and other domestic surfaces, but, as yet, are not developed to use the force of suction to dust, polish and shine those surfaces. This invention eliminates the need for exchanging domestic appliances in order to achieve this end, and also replaces the need for sustained manual effort. By facilitating the transition from one mode of cleaning to another, without changing from one large appliance to another, the invention saves time and effort.
The present invention is a further example of how suction power may be used to clean domestic surfaces, an addition to the present range of vacuum appendages.
It is comprised of a round cleaning pad, attached to an upright propellor, which is encapsulated in a plastic bulb and driven round by suctioned air. As with the other appendages, the air is suctioned by the vacuum cleaner's motor, but in this invention, the suction has a dual role: extracting dust from surfaces, and rotating the duster to polish and shine.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now bedescri'bed by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figure 1. shows in perspective the rotating duster vacuum Jeaner appendage, Figure 2. shows the duster and the rotating propellor, Figure 3. shows how the duster part is attached to the plastic propellor, Figure 4-shows, the screw mechanism allowing the duster and propellor to detach from the capsule to facilitate cleaning, Figure 5 shows the direction of the suctioned air.
Refening to the drawings, the vacuum rotating duster is an appendage of the domestic vacuum cleaner (1), the duster pad being attached to the propeHor,(2) by a click in device (3), which may easily be released and replaced. The duster and propellor may also be detached (4) (by unscrewing) from the capsule, to facilitate cleaning. The force of the suctioned air, entering around the rim of the duster pad, and, if necessary, through a hole in the capsule horizontal to the propellor, causes the propellor to revolve, taking the duster round with it (5). At the same time, it carries any dust with it into the vacuum collector.

Claims (4)

Claims.
1. A vacuum rotating duster, an appendage of a suction vacuum cleaner, consisting of a circular fibre pad, attached to a vertical rotating propellor, by a click-in mechanism,
2. A vacuum rotating duster, as in Claim 1. which, with its rotating propellor is incorporated in a plastic, or equivalent, frame, designed to maximise the amount of suctioned air pushing the three propellor wings,
3. A vacuum rotating duster as in Claim I and 2 which facilitates external air being suctioned into its surrounding frame by way of a gap between the pad and that frame, and, if necessary, by means of an air hole directly horizontal to the propeHor wings,
4. A vacuum rotating duster as in Claim 1, 2 and 3, which may be dismantled sufficiently for the 'interior of its frame to be cleaned and to replace the cleaning pad, as required.
