Abstract

In an alternating current type plasma display panel (PDP) system, a data interfacing apparatus for interfacing red-green-blue (RGB) data between a frame memory and upper and lower address electrode driving chips is disclosed. The data interfacing apparatus includes upper and lower data interfacing chips for taking charge of interfacing the upper and lower address driving chips. The upper and lower data interfacing chips are compatible with each other due to having an identical logic. Each of the upper and lower data interfacing chips includes a data mapping section for provisionally storing the RGB data transferred from the frame memory in an arrangement suitable for a pixel arrangement of a plasma panel and for outputting the RGB data in parallel in a first order and a second order which is inverse to the first order; and an output data selecting section for selecting the RGB data of either the first order or the second order as output data thereof. The data interfacing apparatus further includes an output synchronizing section for synchronously outputting the RGB data which are transferred in parallel from the output data selecting section.
