Abstract

The holder comprises a main body 1 of suitable size and shape, that has a stem 2 attached to it, also of a suitable size and shape, through which the hook 3 is passed. The length of this stem 2 and the distance along it through which the hook 3 is passed, is determined by the size of the paste bait 4 that is moulded around the main body 1. The paste bait 4 could be used to partly cover the hook 3, or moulded around a component with a longer stem 2, whereby the hook 3 would be totally exposed.

Description

1 2350043 PASTE HOLDER This invention relates to a paste holding device
for use in anglInc, t 1 The term paste refers to a semi-rigid substance usually of an edible food source, which can be moulded around an anglers hook and presented to the fish.
The paste needs to be fairly hard to enable it to stay on the book whilst casting out, and is usually moulded around the entire hook to aid adhesion. This can lead to the angler failing to hook a fish, because the point and barb of the hook were covered by the paste.
An object of this invention is to provide a means of securely holding the paste, whilst leaving the point and barb exposed. It can be used with different size paste baits, and also in such a way so as to leave the whole book exposed if required.
According to the present invention there is provided a component of a suitable size and shape, that will allow itself to be affixed to the hook at the required position, by a suitable means, and same will act as an intermediate fixing for the paste bait. The provided component is manufactured in such away as to allow the paste or fish bait to be affixed to it at the required distance ftom the exposed hook.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Fig 1 Shows a side views of the paste holder.
Fig 2. Illustrates an end view showing the cross-section shape of the stem.
Fig 3. Shows the paste holder in position on the shank of the hook.
Fig 4. Shows the paste holder positioned on the hook shank, and a ball of paste moulded around it leaving the hook point and barb fully exposed, note the cut down stem.
Referring to the drawing the paste holder comprises a spherical main body 1. and a stem 2. The anglers hook 3, is pushed through the stem 2, and slid around to the desired position. The hook 3, can be pushed through at any point along the length of the stem 2. This enables the angler to vary the size of the paste ball 4, being used. The stem 2, can be cut to the length required to match the size of the paste ball 4. See fig 4, A larger paste ball 4, requires the hook 3, to be pushed through the stem 2, at a point further away from the main body 1, than a smaller paste ball 4, would require.

Claims (2)

1. A component of a suitable size and shape that will allow itself to be affixed to the hook at the required position, by a suitable means, and same will act as an intermediate fixing for the paste bait.
2. A component as claimed in claim 1, that is manufactured in such a way as to allow the paste or fish bait to be affixed to it at the required distance from the exposed hook.
