Abstract

234,954. Stone, W. B. April 14, 1924. Scparators for secondary batteries comprise a number of closely spaced parallel ribs 13 connected by more widely spaced ribs 12. The two sets of ribs may be at right angles or otherwise. The ribs may be formed by grooving opposite faces of a plate of hard rubber &c., the grooves being deep enough to provide slots or openings through the plate between the ribs, and the grooves between the ribs 13 may be deep enough to enter the ribs 12, as in Fig. 6. In use, the ribs 13 are placed against the battery plate 14, and a diaphragm of wood 15 against the ribs 12. The plate 14 may be enclosed between two such separators, held together at their edges by grooved retaining strips.
