Abstract

A Plastic Strip fabricated with a reflective surface, similar to the materials used on emergency vehicles, and either affixed to the vehicles rear windscreen or incorporated directly into the demister strips. In either case the reflective material may consist of parallel strips of spell out the word dazzle. The device would be posistioned such as that the lights from another vehicle approaching from behind would activate the reflective material. It is also intended that it would act as a warning sign if the vehicle travelling behind was travelling too near to the car in front or if their headlights were incorrectly aligned.

Description

ANTI-DAZZLE STRIP We have all experienced at some time in our driving life the effects of somebody, either driving to close to the back of us, or failing to dip their main beam when closing in on us from behind.
Often, the result of this, causes the driver in front to become dazzled by the reflection of the other drivers lights in both the rear-view mirror and the side mirrors. SEE F ! G 1.3 The solution to this problem may be the production and installation of a ANTI-DAZZLE STRIP fitted to the rear view screen to let the driver behind know that either he is A. DRIVING TO CLOSE B. FAILED-TO DIP HIS HEADLIGHTS C. HIS HEADLIGHTS NEED RE-ALIGNING MANUFACTURING IDEAS 1. A plastic membrane material (similar to tax disc holders) with a light sensitive reflective White/Silver colour lettering strip that lights up, similar to that of the emergency services/traffic police etc.. SEE FIG 1. 1 2. Manufacturers can also build this into the rear screen when laminating them.
3. Most cars now have de-mister strips built into rear screens which could also have a light sensitive strip built into them thus saving on manufacture costs. SEE FIG 1. 2 If the motoring industry were to be sold on this idea, it would be both beneficial to the motorist whilst providing a sound safety system to the problem of DAZZLING.
The first idea could be cheap to produce and can be sold through retail motoring outlets, whilst the second could be produced if the first proves successful.
