Abstract

Exercise apparatus comprises a vertically arranged treadmill which has a running surface positioned at 90{ to the ground, and a horizontal bench to support the upper body and hips of a user as their feet contact the moving surface of the treadmill. A head and neck support may be provided on the horizontal bench, and the bench may be adjusted in height and in distance from the treadmill. Elastic or rubber bands are attached at a fixed point behind the treadmill and pass over rollers arranged above the treadmill before being attached to the feet of the user (see figure 2). These allow for gentle resistance to movement of the legs. The surface of the treadmill may have various degrees of friction, which varies the drag force between the foot and the running surface. An alternative exercise may be performed without using the vertical treadmill, as shown in figure 3. Here, the elastic or rubber bands are passed around a roller at the foot of the bench before being attached to the feet.

Description

THE INVENTION RELATES TO A MACHINE THAT ALLOWS VARIOUS EXERCISES TO BE PERFORMED WITHOUT BODY WEIGHT AND JARRING AFFECTING THE LEG JOINTS SOME TRAINING SPORTSMEN, ARTHRITIS SUFFERES, LEG INJURED SPORTSMEN AND LAYMEN CANNOT EXERCISE BY RUNNING Og LEG EXERCISING BECAUSE THE BODY WEIGHT TRANSFERED THROUGH THE LEG JOINTS BY THE ABOVE LgADS TO PAIN, AND THEREFORE CESSATION OD EXERCISE.
A HORIZONTAL BENCH WITH LEGS HELD HORIZONTALLY.
(A) ROLLERS AND ENDLESS BELT FOR RUNNING EXERCISES.
(B) TOP ROLLERS OVER WHICH RUBBER OR ELASTIC ROPES ARE PASSED, ONE END BEING CONNECTED TO THE ANKLES FOR FORWARD WALKING EXERCISES WITH STRAIGHT LEGS.
ELASTIC ROPES ARE PASSED AS ABOVE BUT FOR BACKWARD WALKING EXERCISES WITH STRAIGHT LEGS.
(C) BOTTOM BAR TO WHICH ELASTIC ROPES ARE ANCHORED FOR VARIOUS EXERCISES.
R5JNNING ON A VERTICAL TRACK WALKING EXERCISES USING ELASTIC ROPES THREADED OVER ROLLERS WHICH ALLOW GENTLE RESISTANCE TO MOVEMENT, NOT DIRECT WEIGHT RESISTANCE WHICH JARRS THE JOINTS.
FIG 3 WALKING EXERCISES USING ELASTIC ROPES THREADED UNDER ROLLERS WITH LOWER LEGS HUNG VERTICAL BUT, NOT TOUCHING THE GROUND.
TWO INDEPENDANT BACKWARD FACING ROLLERS ARE ATTACHED TO THE BENCH LEG IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE ApOVE STATED EXERCISE. li) G 4 (D) A HORIZONTAL BENCH ON WHICH THE PERSON LIES, WITH ELASTICATED ROPES CONNECTED TO ONE END AT A FIXED POINT, THREADED OVER ROLLERS AND THE OTHER END TO THE PERSONS ANKLES. THESE LIE IN A VERTICAL PLANE FROM THE KNEES DOWNWARDS, WITH FEET NOT TOUCHING THE GROUND, THE HORIZONTAL BENCH, ON WHICH THE PERSON LIES, WHICH IS ADJUSTABLE IN NOTCHES (E) FOR DIFFERANT HEIGHTS. THE MACHINE ALSO HAS ADJUSTABLE HEAD AND SHOULDER POSISTIONS IN THE FORM OF NOTCHED ADJUSTMENTS (F).
THE CONSTRUCTION IS OF BOX SECTION BROKEN DOWN INTO SINGLE PIECES FOR PACKAGING AND TRANSPORTATION. THE STRECHERS ARE BOLTED THROUGH THE ROLLER SPINDLES AND ADDITIONAL CROSS CONNECTORS.
THE VERTICAL ENDLESS RUNNING BELT IS ADJUSTABLE TO GIVE DRAG ADJUSTMENT WHICH GIVES A VARYING STRAIN ON ROLLING MOVEMENT FOR RUNNING EXERCISES.
THE HORIZONTAL BENCH IS ADJUSTABLE (E AND F) GIVING HEIGHT AND POSITION SETTINGS THROUGH TWO SEPARATE NQTCH ADJUSTMENTS.
THIS MACHINE WILL ENABLE THE ATHLETE TO RUN WITHOUT IMPACT, AEROBICLY AND ANEROBICLY WITHOUT DAMAGING ANKLES KNEES HIPS OR BACKS.
THIS WILL ENABLE INJURED ATHLETES TO OXYGENATE MUSCLES AND LIMBS THUS HELPING TO REPAIR INJURIES AND ENABLE FASTER REHABILITATION.
USING THE ELASTICATED RUBBER WITH A MEMORY, THE ATHLETE WLL BE ABLE TO RUN AT OVERSPEED INCREASING HIS ANEROBIC CAPACITY, AND INCREASING HIS METABOLISM SAFELY.
THIS MACHINE CAN ALSO BE USED FOR CROSS DOMINENCE TRAINING.
IT IS HIGHLY SUITED TO ALL AGES AND BECAUSE OF ITS DESIGN, IS SAFE FOR USE BY THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED. OR THE HARD OF HEARING.
